Just ordered my First Ferrari, Scuderia 16M

I have finally just placed an order for a Scuderia 16M, as my first Ferrari. I have been in love with the brand for all what I remember, and finally the day that I own one is on its way. I must admit, that the decision was not an easy one, especially that the base model (F430) is at the end of its life cycle and probably the replacement model would be better. I went through a long debate whether I should get one or wait for the replacement, but I convinced myself that the 16M being limited would always be different. I also believe a Ferrari is a Ferrari no matter how old it is. The problem I have now is actually the wait time. My car is due for production in July, and by the time I get it, it would probably be September. That is going to be a torturing long time.

Well anyway, just thought about posting my first thread with a brief of what will hopefully be my Ferrari later this year. Any word of advice on how to deal with the wait time? Is Ferrari going to send me information during the wait time? Did I make the right decision on purchasing the Scuderia 16M, or should I have waited for the F430 replacement?

I ordered the Giallo Modena (Yellow) with full Alacantra interior. The center parts of the seats are in 3D Fabric in yellow, and Special Stiching in Yellow as well. There wasn't many options that I could add, except for the Carbon Fiber Under Door Covers, Tyre Pressure Moniter, and the Bluetooth sterio system.

Congrats...the trick with the wait I think is to try and forget about the car....easier said than done though.

 

Sounds nice! Which stripe package did you order; Italian tri-color or black with a silver border? Also a couple of choices for the wheels and then the finish color, silver, black, gray or gold...

I decided to go with the black with silver border stripes and the black standard wheels. Basically, my car should look like the ones that were in the release images, well, at least I would hope for. One of the options that I have ordered, which I am not too sure off till date is the Carbon Fiber under door covers. Not too sure how the car would look like, but hopefully good. I actually editted a picture on PhotoShop to get an idea of how it would look, and thats when I decided I would go for it.

 

whats your background on cars, you say this is your first ferrari but, i assume, not your first exotic. if it is i would suggest a good racing school and a few kart sessions during the wait. hell i suggest both even if its not your first exotic.

 

Well, let me give you a background on the cars in my Garage: Audi R8, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and some others. I have a good tracking experience with various Audi's, Bentley’s, and Lambo's. With regards to this being my first exotic, well I would probably say the first pure exotic sports car, as I would not fit the Audi R8 in this category (Probably would not fit a Porsche 997 T in this category either). One of the other cars I have on order is the Audi R8 V10, which is probably a supercar, but not exotic, and negotiating a deal on the Maserati Quattroporte. However, I spoke to the dealer regarding track driving the Scuderia, and they are different track driving events that are going to be organized before I get my car, in which kindly enough, the dealer will give me one of their test drives to drive on the track.

 

I am just wondering how you are able to order a 16M, and it is the very 1st Ferrari you have ever bought new??? How is that possible?

I can't speak for Scuderia16M but my dealer "struggled" to find 4 buyers for the 16M. The 4th buyer never bought a car from this dealer yet was able to get the 16M. The dealer was just happy to find 4 buyers.

 

Same here in PA. Our dealer called me to become the 2nd of 4 allotments. I passed. And, the fact that they were down on the food chain to have called me, means many others passed too.

 

Excellent choice!! Congrats i'm sure as i would be you'll be counting down the days to delivery day and crossing off the every date on the calender.

I ordered my 2008 F430 Spider F1 on February 6, 2008 and took delivery June 28. A few days after placing my order I received an email from my salesperson. The email was a copy of my order placed with the factory. I have included a portion below. It's a very cool part of the build history of the car. Perhaps you can ask your dealer for a copy of your order--- you read it every once in a while to smooth out the waiting time!

Congrats and welcome aboard! Good taste on the color combo - Yellow & red are my favourite colors; please post pictures when delivery comes.

 

Great choices, I like the black stripe. The stripe can be seen in detail on the red Swiss delivery 16M that has it's own thread in this section.
The R10 sounds like fun but with the manual trans the 2-3 shift is said to be a bit tricky... Now all you need is patience!
