I had some paint work done on my 80 308 and the tail lights are now in wrong, how hare is it to move these lights? I do not want to damage them and just need to know how to reverse them back to normal. Thanks

Reach inside the trunk, peel back the carpet and you'll see how easy this task is. If I remember correctly, there are 4 long screws holding each light in. Just remove and re-orient, taking care to mark the wire clips, and to not damage the light housings, as they are expensive to replace!

There may be another step or 2 I forgot, as I haven't had mine out in a few years...

    Good luck,
    Greg

Very easy. Just get inside the trunk area and you'll see how easy it is. This is one you can definitely tackle yourself.

Be very careful about how much you tighten the mounting nuts during reinstallation (these aren't cyl head nuts ;)) -- it's very easy to pull the studs out of the (aged) plastic housing. If there's already some cracking in the plastic, you might want to try to repair/reinforce somehow.

I'll add to the caution, the whole housing is brittle, so as Steve says go easy on those long studs and popping the bulb holder out is a delicate task as well!

Good luck......they are only about $450 each, if you ruin one.....:D :D

Maybe I should just leave them the way they are

There has been discussion about this before, but there have been several cases of a 308/Mondial/328 with the taillights reversed from other 308s. I'd just leave it or take it back to the paint shop and have them do it.

Yuck -- it's not THAT hard to do, just wanted to warn you not to crank down overly hard on the nuts.

If you get out enough or post pics around here eventually you will be beaten into submission by well intending folks constantly pointing out the discrepancy.

It's very easy to do. You'll need a 4mm and 6mm (I think) long socket. The larger one is for a ground wire connecting to the chassis. Nothing should break unless you drop something. Again, very easy and "novice" friendly project
