Yeah. Had the 5DMkii for a few days to play, other than being in reverse in most ways from Nikon, it's actually quite capable. The hi pixels doesn't mean anything as they squeezed too much into the sensor. We don't need anything more than 6Mega pixels for normal prints. Anyway, huge amount of reviews & compares on the internet by now. What I didn't like is the too light, plasticky body, no build-in flash (I could set +/- & usually -2 for better fill-in) for my Nikon when taking portraits or macros though I also have a flash unit but sometimes you want to travel light. I also don't like the way you review pics on Canon, you need to press 2 buttons before you can review though maybe you can assign the buttons from menu? But the big round knob on the left does let you get into certain menus quickly.

The video doesn't work too well for me. You can't see it AF fast enough on the LCD which means it's hunting to focus so you get blur images if you're making a home video. So I figure I'd spend the extra bucks on a proper HD Vcam. But my friend swears by it & even made a commercial video out of it on a still life subject, well most adverts don't last more than 3 mins right? It's the only >$5K camera that let's you take HD videos with several lenses including macros. He told me a proper HD cam that can do the same job costs 5-6 figures!

Otherwise, it does come with a very useful kit lens which is L rated & 24-105?? Quite useful zoom @ constant F2.8.

One other issue is that I have several Nikon-mount lenses so I'll have to change everything.

Just like Ferrari vs Lambo :)

Vanq, I just bought a 50mm Carl Zeiss 1.4 & doing manual. Quite fun & you can program the body to read lens! But the pics.... wow

U mean the CZ 85mm 1.4? Too exp over here lah, I'm waiting for a 2nd hand unit & probably getting the Nikon's 85 1.4 but I have the 105 micro which I may use for portraits too. To be frank, these new DSLRs are more complicated than our cars IMO. Maybe I'll go back to films!

    Btw, Fong. U a C, N or both user?

I have the 85mm nikon and CZ...CZ feel is pretty sweet.

I also have the 105mm and its quite suited for what you described

I am all Nikon. Gave up on Cannon and its plastic feel

I was firing away with a Velvia loaded into the F5 Titanium....Threw it to Vanq and he got lost....

    haha

I just did some museum pics with the 50. Quite pleasing & I'm sure the 85 would be fun.

Velvia? Is this still easily available? I just saw a minty F5 body for sale, must be quite cheap now but still too much electronics.
