I am thinking about going to Monza for the race this year. I am looking at section 5 or 24 since these two are in my price range. Anyone have recommendations on which section is better or a recommendation for another section in the 230-250 Euro price range? Also, is the walk around the pits on Thursday worth the trip to Monza? Thanks for the help.

We sat at the first turn, I think it was grandstand 8 last year and had a great time. We were right across from a big screen tv.

Recommend buying directly from the race track to avoid ticket broker surcharges.

    have a great time

can't really help with the walk the walk around, BUT, if you are going to be in northern italy anyways, strongly recommend the factor tour at maranello. We set it up for the tuesday before the race last year and it was well worth it.

Having been to Monza I'm no fan of it. I would recommend seats near the Ascari chicane or in the parabolica.

    You're welcome.

Do a little search on FChat; we have covered Monza seating ad nauseam.

If nothing else, take a walk in the park and check out the banking of the old track. Watch "Grand Prix" before you go and hear the engines roar through the trees while you're there.

If you aren't dead set on an an F1 race, I'd recommend going to an LMS race if you are in Europe. You get tickets a fraction of the cost of F1, fantastic support racing (usually CER), paddock is open all the time, pit walk before race is a nominal fee, access to grandstands (not boxes above garages), races are 6 hours or 1000km (normally races are about 5.5 hours). I agree with Andreas about Ascari for seating - there's a large screen tv there too. We were at the LMS race at Monza last year..sitting in the Ascari area watching the cars coming toward you and seeing the old banking in the back is awesome. Have fun.

Monza is just wonderful, it has the greatest atmosphere of any F1 track, you really do sense the history and racing ghosts of the past ! Every F1 fan should do a Monza trip at least once !!

Thursday pit walk is worth it if u like to get close to the cars and normally there is a few Drivers and team Memebers are around to give autographs and chat with, the only problem it can get rather crowed thus making it hard to get good pics..

On our honeymoon we bought general admission tickets from a scalper in a parking lot. Jumped on the bus, then the long walk. We spent the day walking all around the track and had a blast. Great viewing everywhere with big TV's all over the place. The food is amazing, beverages are everywhere and the fans are incredeble. I was hard to go back to Laguna Seca after that.....

That's a pretty strong statement. How do you come to that conclusion?

Obviously my opinion is quite different. From my own sampling there are several races I would put ahead of the athmosphere of Monza.

My conclusion is formed by my own personal experiences. Except from Bahrain, Shanghai and obviously Abu Dhabi , I have attended every event on the 2009 calender, and a whole lot more that have now been deleted from the championship.

I've read previously posts from you on here with your negative comments about Monza. Your opinion is your opinion and your entitled to it, but you will just have to accept that your view of the event is not every ones...

I did a search and didn't get much. I am planning to go to my first F1 race in Budapest in July. It looks like the Gold Grandstands although at start/finish don't afford much of a view of the rest of the track. Would Silver 4 or 5 be better?

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi
i would highly recommend monza, for a grand prix trip
i have been there 5 times, and everytime it was brilliant
if you can get tickets for the start/finish line its great
you would be across from the pit exit, also the fans are excellent
good banter between the tifosi and the mclaren invaders.
also if your into collecting books, models etc there is about 5 shops
inside which have good selection of anything to do with f1,le mans etc.

I have no problem with your view being different.

I'm impressed by you having travelled all the GPs. That's pretty bloody awesome and with that background I also have no problem if you declare Monza the coolest.

I'm just tired of people making comments about race tracks without ever having been there. The TV "experience" is very different from real life. Obviously you don't belong to this group. Congrats and kudos to you!

I went to Budapest a few years ago and had Gold Granstands. The only benefit you get there are the pits and being covered in case of rain (which can happen there).

However from a viewing perspective the seats in the last turn (forgot what number they are) are a LOT more interesting and give a much better perspective.

You're in for a treat: While the race is rarely exciting on TV, it is great fun in person: Budapest is a fantastic destination with so much to do, see and eat and getting to and from the track is very orderly and fast. Lots of souvenir shops outside the gated area and also inside. Lots of F1 cars on display. And the "amphiteatre" of the track is just wonderful for spectators.

We also got lucky with a special treat: Historic GP cars! And GP2 for those who care. And some Porsches.

Except for the fact that Monza was filthy, we had a great time. People were just great. And the sound..........................

I found Monza simply boring. No good view of the track, no elevation changes, nothing going on in town, chaos while parking and on the road. I know as a Ferrari fan I'm supposed to love it, but I didn't. There are so many more interesting tracks out there with a cool town nearby.

    To each his own.

I plan on attending my first Grand Prix this year and timing makes none better than Monza; I'm just wondering if anybody has any suggestion regarding best place to spend the night (besides a bar), to easily get to the track; The few hotels in Monza are all booked...

Milano is not far from Monza, on race day morning it can be a bit hectic getting to the track due to traffic, but other then that staying and going out in Milano is the best bet i found.. Milano has some of the best night life in Italy, it will be no problem finding some thing that will suit you...

I used Venere.com and got a B&B for 75 Euro per night at the Hotel Mazzini and I did not have to pay the hotel upfront. I plan to spend as much time as possible at the track, so I was not looking for an expensive hotel. Just a place to put my head at night and grab a little espresso in the morning. Plus, it is very close to the Central Train station which will make going back and forth to Monza very easy.

Well, we stayed in Chamonix. :)

But you don't have to be that far away. I'd settle for Milano.

Just make sure you leave no valuables in your car. Mine got cleaned out once in Milano while I parked to get a burger around the corner.

Numisrx, I was at Budapest two years ago and sat in the back, which was okay, but I also walked the course and thought that Silver 3 looked like the best place to see the race. Someone else on this forum came to the same conclusion.

We used verbo.com and rented the coolest apartment in Belagio on Lake Como. The track was a 1 hour easy drive. After the race came back to Belagio and watched the race at the Sport Club outside Belagio. We paid $125.00 a night for an apartment with a lake view and easy walk to the town center. Check it out- Amazing......
