I know not everybody's feeling the 612, but I've seen a few (HGT-S versions) around recently and I must say they are some of the best sounding cars I've heard, with a throaty growl of intent even at idle. The interior is faultless too and looks like such a pleasant place to while away the time and miles on a long drive. Whilst the looks split opinions I still think this is one of the greatest cars made at the moment. btw, nice Drophead Doug. Those things are biblical!
Thanks! I'm not quite sure what it is, I wish I had taken more than just that picture of it...I was a bit confused at what I was looking at when I took it. Nice to see you over here too
Having put about sixty miles on a 612, I completely agree. One of the absolutely finest grand tourers on the market, but only if you're a car guy. Otherwise, I'd go with the Bentley every time. While the 612 handles like it's on rails and accelerates like mad, engine noise is noticeable, the ride is harsh, and the backseats are next to unusable. The Bentley, meanwhile, is insulated from the road and has little engine noise, but steering is light and you really feel its weight - not the best car if you're into cars. For me, it's an easy choice (the 612 every time) but most people would rather cruised in relaxed style and the Ferrari is neither relaxed nor stylish! Thanks! A crazy car indeed. I wish I had gotten to see the blue in the light; it seems like an interesting color scheme.
Yesterday was a 996 Turbo S, I don't know if it's rare or not but it looked pretty good. Also was a Maybach 57, I think, at Lenox. Today was an Alpina B7 at Terminus. Saw the blue 360 Spyder and a V8 Vantage driving but it was dark so no pictures. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I took my 575 out this weekend. Roadtrip to the mountains. I saw a Testarossa, 355, 308 and several Lambo's all on Old Alabama Rd in Alpharetta GA.
The Turbo S was the last of the 996 range. It was built in 2005 - 2006 and came with 30 more hp and 40 lb.-ft. more than a standard Turbo. These also came standard (I think) with ceramic brakes. As far as production numbers, I can't remember but I think the number is around that of the GT2.
Recent spots: Tuesday February 24: - black Aston-Martin DB7 Volante on University of Georgia plates turning out of a parking lot on Peachtree near North Druid Hills. - silver Bentley Azure (old style) at Phipps Plaza valet. Wednesday February 25: - black Audi R8 on wildlife plates (with the eagle) in a parking lot near Lenox Mall. - black Ferrari 599 GTB on California plates at Lenox Mall. I wonder if that's one of the two we have been seeing running around on temporary plates that finally got a tag. My only one for the day was the 599 at Lenox right as the rain was starting. The other one was a picture my aunt sent me of a Murcielago Roadster she saw in Savannah today...she took it with her phone so that's why it came out so tiny. It's not any R8 I've seen before. It has a mounting bracket for a US front license plate; the other two I've seen on temporary plates didn't have the bracket.
Two out of town cars for tonight... Vanquish at Chops with California custom plates, I forgot what it said though and the picture didn't come out. Also was the blue 360 Spyder on Texas plates at Terminus but not in valet and very poorly parked, it was probably 2-3 feet from the curb Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few spots today: - gray Aston-Martin V8 Vantage at Wieuca and Peachtree. - blue Ferrari 360 Spider on Texas plates, parked, as Andrew mentioned, rather amateurishly at Terminus. - red Lamborghini Gallardo on West Paces at Roswell Road/Peachtree. Also caught a new Audi Q5! I wasn't aware they were out yet. Very neat, but I do have a bit of an Audi bias. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am sometimes lucky to spot exotics in Gainesville, but they are few and far in between! I had the opportunity to experience something you guys probably go through everyday. I was coming back from Roswell and had just entered Gainesville and passed by, what I believe to be the same black Gallardo spider you guys have posted in the past couple of pages, the guy looks familiar. Five minutes after I had spotted that I had pulled into the local Best Buy and to my amazement I came across an orange Gallardo coupe on texas plates. Unfortunately the lady that happened to be driving yelled at me for standing next to her car so that I could get a picture... Maybe she saw all of the Ferrari apparel I was wearing, and thought I was out to get her car! Oh well... One more thing... i go to Buckhead as often as I can and never get fortunate enough to spot anything worth posting... I guess my luck stops at the Gainesville city limits.
Was in Buckhead last week for about nine days for some photoshoots. Started creating a list of exotics I saw on the streets; -7 Bentley CGT -3 Maserati Quattroporte -2 Maserati GranTourismo -2 Aston Martin Vantage Volante -2 BMW M6 -2 BMW M3 (E92) -Ferrari 599 GTB (black) -Aston Martin DB9 Volante (silver) -Bentley Flying Spur (silver) -Dodge Viper GTS (yellow) -Lamborghini Diablo (silver) -Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (red, matching wheels) -Mercedes SL600 by RENNtech (black) -Porsche 911 GT3 (white) -Mercedes CL63 AMG (white) In hindsight, all those Bentleys are almost inconsequential, you see them so often. The 599 was the same black one photographed twice above @ Lenox Square.
Went by my friends house today to check out his dads GT3RS. More pictures coming in the near future. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah and apparently he doesn't want to trade for a 1990 535i/5 with only 211k original miles, thats his loss. Ill try to get some interior shots this week.
I can never understand why people who have orange Lamborghinis (or similar vehicles) would get angry at someone taking a photograph. Interestingly, I've never had an owner ask me to stop taking photos for as long as I've been doing this. Final spots from Saturday (February 28): - gray Audi R8 at a gas station on Old Alabama Road in Roswell. - black Bentley Azure (old style) on Florida "Hospices Save Lives" plates on Piedmont near Lenox Road. - white Maybach 57S on 'Fight Breast Cancer' plates at the same intersection. A few from today: - red Dodge Viper RT/10 on Peachtree near Lindbergh. - silver Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder on temporary plates in a parking lot near Peachtree and Piedmont. Hey West (Horse-power) - you still around? Haven't heard from you in a little while! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today's spot is completely courtesy of Andrew (ZonderF) - a gray Aston-Martin DBS (my first DBS!) on Pennsylvania plates (my first car from Pennsylvania!) readng OOOH-WEE. A great sighting of an extremely rare car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few days ago I was in Marietta so I stopped by the Chevrolet dealer and they happened to have a ZR-1 in the showroom. I really want to see and hear one of these things on the road, but for now this is as close as I can get. Last night was a DB9 convertible at Terminus. Today was a Bentley Flying Spur Speed on temporary plates, the DBS and a Maserati coupe with red accents on what appear to be stock wheels both at Lenox. Some from today... DB7 at Phipps, NSX that was completely blocked off at the Ritz, Porsche 356 Speedster (most likely a replica but I can't tell), Bentley GT with mismatched rims...normally I wouldn't take a picture but this just looked funny, V8 Vantage at Terminus and a 996 GT3 in Dunwoody at dinner. Nice shots! The red wheel on the Continental GT is its temporary tire. No idea why they made it such an offensive color and style - maybe to get people to immediately go to the dealer and spend hundreds on a new tire! My spots yesterday: - silver Aston-Martin DB7 Vantage Volante at Phipps Plaza. - gold Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead on Peachtree near Lenox Road. I have now seen the driver of this car in five different exotics in Buckhead (599, 612, 430 Spider, Phantom, and now Phantom Drophead). I love that he drives them all! Not sure why but this is a trend in the auto world. Lexus is one company that is doing it as well - or at least testing it. I have seen quite a few Lexus IS running around with a yellowish-beige spare tire. I tend to agree with you that the off color - rather than the black - may make owners get their tires repaired more quickly - as driving on a spare tire is not as healthy or as safe as a regular road tire.
Thanks! The temporary tire definitely explains why he pulled a U turn in the middle of the road right in front of Butler Tire on Roswell Rd then. It was too funny to see it with 3 20+ inch rims and one small red one. Today's spots... Started at Lenox with something different, it's called a Wheego Whip and it's an all electric Smart looking little thing. I looked at their website and it's a local company that is trying to get people start up dealerships to sell these things. It has a top speed of 25 and a pretty short range from what I've read, and at close to 20 grand, I'd have a hard time not buying a Smart instead. Next was the big Phantom on Cali plates at Terminus but the owner was in the car talking on the phone so I didn't want to startle him with the flash bulb, I came back a few minutes later and he was gone but there was a Viper SRT/10 instead. Then finally was a 430 parked on West Paces beside Chops on Montana plates. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
