I've always wondered, what is the purpose for the odd shape of the rear view mirror? And is it always painted to match the car as well?

Sorry for stealing your pic! ;) Just one of those great shots you want to save! Thanks for the other pics. Very nice! I personally think the F50 looks great with the top on.

Can anyone shed light on what is involved in affixing the hard top? Apparently the dealer will do it for us at a labor cost of several hours?

Also, anyone have any experience with the Tubi system that is both headers and open exhaust? Cost?

Jeffrey, here is my rogues gallery of images, blatantly plundered off the web - apologies to all, but I see my own images out there in cyberspace too and smile - in a feeble attempt to change your mind :)

Joe, on the second to the last picture I have never noticed the "duct within the duct" before. Pretty neat.

Aye. Matches the duct on the side of the F40. A tribute to its little brother. ;)

Thanks for the thread, Joe. You're right: The F50 needs its own thread and is more than deserving.

It was my favorite car poster in my sixth grade teacher's classroom, and the rest is history.

11 years later I finally saw one.

    Momentous.

Is it correct to assume that F50s were painted in multiple colors versus F40s which were all red (with the exception of a few custom cars)?

Jeffrey I believe you are correct although most of them were red, with yellow, black and silver (among others) produced...

Had mine almost 2 years now. The standard exhaust was ok but didn't match the presence of the car. Switched to a full tubi system with tubi silencers and again expected a little more noise, so went the full monty with straight through pipes. I measured the sound in the open cabin at 4500 rpm whilst stationary 116 decibels. Driving it was in reality too loud - I was always mindful of attracting the wrong sort of attention.

I had to drive out of the village on tick over and on one occasion could still be heard 8 miles away. In all honesty it was a little too much so I have put the silencers back on. Cost of all the kit including fitting was just over £10k - although it is an easy diy job to swap between the silencers and straight through pipes - a couple of hours tops.

Mine is a UK supplied car with white front indicators - so I do not know whether the orange front indicators are a US spec item?

Nonetheless I had to replace one of the front light units recently and the cost was £50 from Eurospares.

No first hand knowledge but the quote below is from this thread where 360C describes (with photos :)) the installation of a tubi system on his F50.

There were five colors for the F50:

    Red: Rosso Corsa, Rosso Barchetta
    Black: Nero
    Silver: Argento
    Yellow: Giallo Fly

    Cheers!

    Absolutely love the F50!

I've driven one before and it was sensational! I loved the raw feel of it and the funky dash.

There a tad too expensive for me at the moment though, have you sold many in the past Joe?

    How is the market?

I saw a RHD one for sale recently, can't remember where though - do you know?

I missed your question yesterday: the answer is they pull less than Enzo dollars but with circa 50 in the USA, and over 100 Enzos in the USA, I think that scenario will change...

USA spec & Euro spec. Chaos may be right, the clear lenses look good, but personally I dont mind the USA spec cars. Note the USA car's side-marker, lack of small round turn-signal, amber driving lenses, and noticeably deeper front spoiler lips on both sides.

Does anyone know how many are actually in the US? I have seen 2 or 3 different Euro spec cars here and I bet there are more. Also I have been lucky and have seen both the black F50s here.
