The 430 spider market will ONLY go down just like every other used car. The only reason any current F cars ever went up in value was that most people were buying them with funds that actually turned out to not exist like home equity, cheap credit and thinking your portfolio was only going up and could afford spend more because they were making in the their investments. If the premium paid was driven up because of money that seemed to easy to get in the first place, it will have to be returned in the form of hyper depreciation from everyone. Its here and its just the begining and we should adapt and get used to it. Its no different from the housing market. We are all paying the price.
Im assuming most people buying cars now actaully have the ability to buy and should not think the rest of the population is in the same boat. You should be getting incredible deals by this time next year. If housing(priority) may have 30% more to go then newer F cars(luxury) may have 40% more to go. Ferrari still has a waiting list only because they cut producton down to create a list. They created the demand. They made a lot of 360/430 and now there are too many used cars available that has cut the list for new cars down significantly. Its not going to wash out soon, we will have the same problem when the economy rebounds. They have grown too large to go back to selling 2000 cars per year, they have to keep their #'s up by selling more cars out of the US, the 1980's-2009 used market will be affected.

At those prices ($300k), no need to give dealers $10k down on anything like the replacement, they will have new cars seating in their showrooms.

If Ferrari remains true to it's past, the new car will have the 4.7 liter displacement from the Maserati engine. When they replaced the 360 they went with the then current Maserati 4.3 despite speculation of a more modest dispacement increase. Just my guess.

    I think the same.

I think the F430 successor will be a 'F'-less numerical name. Based on the history of things.

My parents have an F350 in Alabama... whenever I talk about it in Europe, I always have to explain that the F355's predecessor was the 348 and that the F350 looks nothing like a Ferrari 348. :p

Edit: For those of you in Europe, here's me in the F350 (doing my best to look as natural as possible in a humongous pickup truck) so you can get an idea for what it looks like:

they don't have a choice. Environmentalist want car manufacturers to reduce their carbon emmisions or their car simply won't be legal.

BTW, saving weight is a HUGE plus in my book.

    Almost guaranteed.

As long as they have the Eddie Bauer Edition, the F450 is fine.

Maybe they'll call it the Ferrari FFF (F-Fo-Fiddy) instead of F450.

No one knows that an F450 is a pick up outside the US.

I hope it is lighter than the Modena..

Ferrari's future is not in extreme performance and top speeds, vice-general manager Amedeo Felisa has revealed to Autocar.
“People are changing their minds about Ferraris,” said Felisa, on hand at the Geneva motor show to show off his firm's track-day special, the 599XX. “We need to go in the direction of customer needs and utilisation of our cars.”
Read more about the Ferrari 599XX
Felisa revealed that the company's future sports cars would focus more on the “special rewards” from the cars, hinting that noise, feel and drama would be increased rather than outright performance. The first example of this new policy is expected to the F430 replacement, the F450, due next year.
However, Felisa admitted that the focus on sports cars and GTs would continue. The company has no plans to enter different segments of the market or move away from its current pricing and positioning.
Felisa also reiterated Ferrari's plans to develop new powertrain technologies, including petrol-electric hybrids. But he doesn't expect a production model with these systems until 2015.

i agree on more noise and special rewards but to think i don't want outright performance from Ferrari, they are truly mistaken!

My friend has a Civic with a 6" diameter muffler with LED built in, sounds like a fart can, it's sitting 2" from the ground and rides on suspension made of no shocks. nose, feel, and drama without more speed..... Ferrari, are you serious?

People will never chage their minds about Ferraris. Obviously, the outright performance is certainly expected. More noise and any other special rewards are just its by-product.

Most Ferraris outperform most cars made already. I guess there comes a point when you hit a plateau. What would they make, then? They would have to raise the bar for performance yet again, making a 700HP car "entry level," with an FXX type of replacement with 850-1000HP... which becomes untenable.
