The Great thing about those Guys is that they drive their cars. The Mods they had Mc Laren do to their F1 are wonderful. Their F 40 is pretty special as well: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232312
The car now has over 50K on it, and was the first F50 to hit that milestone I am aware of. I stand corrected by NNO. I remember seeing pics calling it the F50K. Joe maybe you should stick to the F40, 288GTO, and those Lamborghini's you like . You can't be an expert on everything.... Erik
Jas obviously started this thread to upstage my information F50 post here, in this thread. That's pretty intense... I bet it sounds even better in person, too! Jas, how can you possibly post a picture of a window sticker and not post a second, closeup of the VIN? You're killing me, here...! Since this is an all-encompassing F50 thread, why not add a little F50 trivia...? How many F50s have been converted to RHD...?
The F50K had 32,000 miles on it back in 2001. When I went to my first Ferrari French Quarter Classic in 2003, they were already calling it the F50K. I would love to know how many miles are on it now, five years later.
Does that exhaust open into each other at the point the circles touch to even out the flow? Similar to an exhaust crossover or the bundle of snakes Ford used?
Fantastic thread! Still my favorite Ferrari ever though I have never seen one in person. Fingers crossed for the FCA meet this summer.
Thats my understanding, although I haven't seen a schematic of this one. A personal friend had a custom system made for his F50 and had two pipes welded similarly....once I find that youtube clip, I'll post the result
I've seen about a handful of them and one of the F50GT's (003. The car that was in Australia for a bit) and i never tire of seeing them. Its quite comfy too
I believe there was 5 RHD F50's and they were made for the Sultan correct, and one was recently auctioned off? Erik
here's one of them at talacrest...102852 http://www.talacrest.com/stockdetails.asp?stockID=137 "2000 kms from new A total of only 349 examples of the F50 was produced This car was manufactured in 1996 for the Sultan of Brunei and has covered fewer than 2,000 miles from new. Built to full EU type approval specification, it is in excellent condition. Fitted with a Navtrak alarm and tracking device, this Ferrari comes with owner's manual, service records, full roof pack, rare optional extra canvas roof and a letter from Maranello Concessionaires confirming the car's authenticity. "
Jas - you've got to admit you could just have posted this into Joe's new thread I happen to like the 288 Thread, its a nice place to watch on a daily basis - surely you could be the guy that posts interesting little tidbits on F50s on a periodic basis?
Belgoexports bills this car as the first F50 made....one of ?5 with a serial number 99999.... "F50 s/n 99999 is probably the most exceptional example ever on offer. Not only is it the very first F50 built, the 1995 Geneva and Tokyo showcar but it bares chassis number #99999 and is therefore the last Ferrari built with a 5-digit chassis number. The unique VIN (the chassis number, not the car!) had been promised to the owner - a close friend of the Commendatore - by Enzo Ferrari himself back in the eighties. Another remarkable feature is that with a mere 814km (502 miles) on the clock, it is certainly one of the lowest mileage F50's in existence. Finally, this is an extremely rare "European" 1995 build, which is the only model year allowed to be imported into the United States! The engine has been running regularly for maintenance purposes and therefore no engine recommissionning expenses are needed. Finished in rosso corsa with two-tone black and red seats, this stunning supercar comes with a brand new and never even unpacked set of luggage as the icing on the cake! F50 s/n 99999 is no doubt the ultimate collector's F50" Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not five. But 102852 is one of them (the first one, actually), formerly of the infamous Brunei collection; this RHD conversion is rumored to have been executed by the factory.
Last time I checked, this is a public forum of ferrari enthusiasts...plural. Are you suggesting only one person initiate threads Are you concerned about duplication ? This thread has acknowledges other peoples efforts and sources of F50 info. I believe its the first effort that tries to do so. As far as the F40 Photos thread...I didn't start it. You should read it though, tons of excellent info and contributions
