Really?! NICE I've heard another Brunei car is/was in Canada in shrinkwrapped bits. I think i have the colour/serial # of it somewhere
I understand that six development cars were built by Ferrari before production of the 288 GTO began. What happened with five other cars (excluding 47649)?
I believe 1 was the crash test, and the others were either updated to Evo spec and planned for racing or used as F40 mules.
Interesting to note the 288 GTO's overall gear ratios essentially = those of the USA F40, slightly different from those of the European version . First 1:10.707 Second 1:6.659 Third 1:4.745 Fourth 1:3.723 Fifth 1:2.964 Reverse 1:9.518 Final drive 10/29 Holding 5 litres of gearbox oil, the unit proved completely successful & robust and is the basis for the F40's unit. The only failure Im aware of concerns a car that had the standard unit modified with drop gears. Id be interested to hear if there have been others... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Perhaps the coach builder spent too much time on the GTO's, but on most cars bodywork the composite material is hardly noticeable through the paint, at best a seemingly orange-peely effect, definitely not the defined pattern of the F50's paintwork.... I'm still waiting to hear about the blue dot on the wheel. ; ) Just finished reading the entire thread. Fabulous. Joe will the GTO reunion be open to the public? xraygun
Me too! Ive just come across another GTO with a blue dot on both front wheels only. Bizarre. Put there by aliens I think. Not to mention the green dots on the driver-side windscreen top (see all the cars on the Reunion poster). Inquiring minds want to know... The GTO Reunion will be open to the public, but you have to bring a 288 GTO to attend!
Andrew: see Tony's post on page 158 (post 3153) and you'll see that the white GTO is Chris Evan's GTO and it is pictured at DK Engineering in the UK...
Thanks for posting Tony. Richard did his homework on this one! BTW this car, B 656 KNH is the reclusive 57711, not to be confused with B 724 KNH which is 54781. Nice piece... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Has anyone any idea which 288 GTO has now become white ? Do we think it is 55233 ? B23 CBW ? (pic courtesy of max , ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well. 55233/B 23 CBW did in fact also have a fog-light affixed to the rear valance on the passenger side. Coincidence? I think not!!
