Interesting feedback from this thread. Great to hear so many people enjoying their collections at a much higher rate than I would've guessed. For the collectors: Are you the lone driver in your collection or do you have others (outside of family members) maintaining, enjoying, tracking them with you on a regular basis?
I occasionally invite other Fchat members to take one of them to a show at the same time I am taking the Ferrari. My lady cannot or will not learn to use a foot clutch, so she has an auto-Miata.
+10,000 .............. finally .................. a thread about what owning these cars is 'really' about !!!!! When I first got my F355 I put over 6000 blissful miles before the first year was over . I put over 70k on my 993TT ........... sure they lose value ...... but no matter how hard one may try ......... 'you can't take it with you' ............ enjoy the fruits of ones labor without guilt ............. !!!!!! I quoted Jim on another section, during a video interview ........ he said words to effect of "yes I drive it (p4/5) , and if something happens, I fix it ..... then move on' ..................... those words reflect how I feel also ............. in extreme comparison some folks are afraid to do anything if it entails any form of risk .......... that ......... IMO is a very sad way to live .......... Thanks posting this great topic Jim .............. Drive em' till you Die !!!!! .................
Jim, I had no clue that you had a 166 SC, one of my favorite all time Ferraris. Congrats on a great car. ---- Sadly, I'm not driving yet and don't have the pleasure of putting miles on cars. Do go-carts count?

While not a super car, I too agree that these should be driven. Here's a photo of my 355 from a drive the other day, I noticed I parked it just as it hit 31k miles. That's over 5.5k miles in less than 2 years. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know you well personally, Jim, but I doubt that on your death bed you will list amongst your regrets that you put too many miles on the cars. Does that answer the question?

Hey, I think I've met you before. You were in Austin with both of those cars, right? I love your CGT! It was the first one I ever saw in person and I really appreciate you bringing it out. Awesome a thread about driving these cars! Hooray! 21K on My CS in 4 years, 15 K on the 360 that preceded it in 2 years. Then in the last 18 months or so... 12K on my 997TT 3K on my Scud 4K on my 612 1K on my 599 - sold it because I didn't like it Put 3K km on my 288 Only 1K km on the Miura, but that really is art rather than transport 100 hrs on 2 challenge cars (that's somewhere in the region of 7.5-10K miles depending on average track speed) 3K on my dino Plus Merc and BMW daily drivers driven a bunch of miles. The 612 and the 997 both have snow tires and have both been parked outside all winter. The 612 actually works if you leave it outside and use it - the 360 would have had a big sulk if I'd tried that with it. The only problem is the little grates on the rear by the exhaust have both gone rusty - will be replaced under warranty in a few weeks once the weather in new england breaks.
Hey Mike, That was me and that was a great day. Thanks for the compliment! Great pics, by the way. I enjoy a lot of your fine work on Fchat.
In the last two years....great thread ! 5k miles CGT 5k miles CS 7k miles GT3/GT3RS 3k miles 512BB 1k miles F50 weekend miles on the F40 and a few at Sakhir 10k miles S65AMG 100 miles on the Scud...in the last week. As the kids get old enough to sit in a booster, looking forward to fun days in the future. wish I had more time, but don't we all ?
