The thing I like most is that there are some cars that transport you back in time. Here are two more of mine. The first I drove 65K miles in the rain, sleet and snow and on the day they lowered the National Speed Limit to 55 as an act of civil disobedience drove her from Boston to NY in two hours. The second one has 70K miles. So far I've put on 5K of those. The 65K miles on her before I bought her didn't temper my bidding. You can see from the wind in her roof that she still Books. If as Jim says, any car that's driven and cared for is super, then my cars qualify for supercar status I think. 550 Maranello - 15k miles in under 2 years 365 GT4/BB - 1,800 miles in 2 weeks in September (about equal to what she had driven from 1989 to 2008!!) I'm taking the 550 from Holland to the Mille Miglia coming May, and the Boxer from London to Amsterdam to the Swiss Alps and back in June. Both cars are going to the Goodwood Revival as well, and various events in between. It's going to be a great summer! Onno
I still do. 2K miles in 2 years. The other thing is great roads. Here's an interesting sim that gives you the feel of driving on the Targa Florio which are public roads. Every Sunday people from all over the world come to drive these roads in old cars, new cars, rental cars and bikes. Once a year the Historic Targa is held here. So far I've driven P 4/5, P 3/4, 166 SC, 208 GTB Turbo and Dino Competizione there. This year I'm going to drive a FIAT Dino Spyder like the one in the last photo. Yep - sorry to say, but the 599 didn't float my boat - I much prefer the 612. For me, with a 6 & 7 year old that fit very comfortably in the back, the 4 seater is an advantage. The 599 was neither a hardcore sports car like the Scuderia, nor a true GT like the 612. Financial foolishness I know, but I have snow tires on the 612 and have been driving it all winter.
The 993TT is one of my favorite cars. I have a Ruf Turbo R variant. I 've driven it 40,000 miles in the past 10 years. It's amazing how fast it is for such an old car! BTW, the 993 Ruf Turbo R is faster than an F40... Image Unavailable, Please Login

altho my time in london curbed my driving somewhat, i have still lived by the motto drive them instead of parking them. 512tr 30,000 km in 8 years 456mgt 10,000 km in 18 mths 512bbi 1,000 km in 2 months (been in parts since then ) and thats just the current ferraris !
What's the most you've driven one in one day? My daily best was about 400 miles. From Lake Como to the Factory for Lunch where a very rare thing happened, they picked up the check at the Cavallino Restaurant, a side trip or two and then back to Turin. ~ 700 miles from Durango, CO to Wichita Falls, TX. Part of an epic journey from Salt Lake City, UT to Houston, TX - drove my car home after buying her at Steve Harris imports.

around 450 miles from Springfield, MO to Dallas after completing the purchase of the 993tt at around 1a.m. Caught a couple of hours of sleep and went blasting through the hills of NW Arkansas at around 6am. Did around 300 miles in the CGT in one day.
Just a note to say that life's too short. If polishing your supercar makes you happy then I understand. Polish away. Enjoy life! Short story: A customer/friend of mine came to me with a request a couple years ago. He said a friend of his wanted a convertible. He wanted to spend $20 to $30K and set up a meeting one evening at a Starbucks close to my house. At the meeting I met the nicest 60 year old gentleman you would ever meet. He was quite frail and during the conversation he told me he was recovering from prostate cancer. A few months prior he had surgery and his attitude was very positive. He was going to beat this disease. He wanted the convertible to enjoy the top down weather, but he needed one with a soft seat for obvious reasons. The price range to find him a car was no problem however the soft seat in today's cars was another story. A light went of in my head: parked in my garage covered up and only driven 3 or 4 times a year was my 1970 BMW 1600 cabrio. Or course, it was not for sale, but I loaned out my little car to my new friend that I will always remember. The seat was nice and cushioned for him. He took great care of my car for almost two years. Keep it covered in his garage and drove it around The Woodlands Texas with a huge smile on his face whenever he wanted. He'd call and tell me that he got pulled over by people wanting to buy my car several times. He'd always call me from his cell phone and ask me if I wanted to sell it? Knowing my answer, he'd laugh and tell the potential buyers that the owner might take $100k for it.... Laughing, he would say "you'd take that wouldn't you?" My dear friend, Erwin Wood died last month. If I could have sent the car to Heaven with him I certainly would have done it. It's the simple things that make up this life. Great thread about how to enjoy your cars and what brings a smile to your face. I personally like to drive them as they were intended. The sound of a 12 cylinder Ferrari singing is like no other. I will attempt to gather up some pictures and post. My computers were stolen after Hurricane IKE so a lot of them are missing now. Thanks again Jim. I'm enjoying seeing all your and other peoples cars in use.
Matt, that is a great story! Sorry to hear of your friends passing....but you definetly did your part!
