One of these weekends break out the stash of magazines and have a good read! There never seems to be the time to do it though... Great stuff Joe! Not sure if this one is a repost but does anyone know about this F40? Sorry it's not a US car. http://www.flickr.com/photos/27777113@N07/2591324136/sizes/l/in/set-72157605685230340/ Hood scoop looks really sweet. Same owner as the yellow F50 with similar mods?
Ian how are you? You should make it to Cars & Coffee in Irvine on the 21st because Jeffrey has organized something that will appetizing for your trusty lens... somehow I have unwittingly become involved! I dont know this particular F40, but I can tell you its not the French-Monegasque gentleman who owns the yellow F50 of which you speak. I can also tell you that this F40 lacks an air fence and accordingly overheating and loss of control will be a problem...
Thanks for the info. As soon as I saw the thread about the 21st I knew I was going I will definitely be there. Looking forward to seeing you. Also, I'll send you a PM regarding the Enzos on your site. I have a friend who is interested...
Ok good to know. In that case, disregard what I was asking about the red Enzo in my PM reply. Is the red Enzo a local car or is that confidential?
Awesome! That black Enzo looks amazing. Look forward to seeing you and the cars on the 21st. Plus I'll let you know about the Enzo or F40
Ian, your image of Rick's F40 is fantastic and perfectly captures the young lady having fun! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unbelievable collection of mags, Joe. I am thoroughly enthralled now. Still haven't sat in mine yet. After seeing those cover pics and headlines, I am all the more excited to take custody of, drive, and share a legend. Thanks
BTW....this is an amazing thread Joe. If I should ever be in a position to purchase an F40, you sir will be contacted.
These LMs have a USA connection: The Pilot car was in fact a prototype USA production car, and Darius A's car seen (flaming!) at Monza recently is in fact one of two USA production cars that became part of the original group of 19 works LMs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRfS9UoyUlo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdomNO2jYOY&feature=related
This particular F40 indeed had the original seats re-upholstered in the more practical black leather. However, I am aware of at least one USA F40 (which for a time belonged to Mario Andretti) that originally came with its seats in red leather to the same standard pleating pattern etc as opposed to red nomex. My question is as to whether there are any others known, and in any other colors, tan for example. Ferrari did this sort of thing if you knew who to speak to, and the F40 wasn't the first Supercar where they made that sort of concession. I know of 2 288 GTOs that came with the red-orange seat inserts in leather rather than nomex upon special request...
Nigel Mansell's (euro car) was delivered with tan leather seats... off to find a pic... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That was factory installed? I thought it was aftermarket. Either way, that drivers seat looks well used!
