    Hello Group,

My name is Ben and I have been lurking here quietly for about a year now. I am a long time P guy who never considered having a Ferrari bc I thought they were not worth the trouble, maintenance etc. I talked to an owner who told me the reliability and build quality had improved the last 10 years or so. He told me about this site. I began to read a bit here and there but still never considered having one until I walked over to Mizner Park one morning you guys were there. I realized then that the car I planned to buy at the time, a 997 turbo cab, just wouldn't do it for me any more. I have learned a lot this past year from you guys. I have been considering buying an F for the past year and now is the time. I am beginning my search for a 360 spider. I know which colors, options I want but have not decided on transmission type yet. Fear not, I will not start a manual vs F1 thread. I was ready to buy 6 months ago but decided to wait and am glad I did. My office is near your cars and coffee meeting spot on Saturday. My wife and I would like to meet and greet a few of you this Saturday. We will be driving the silver 996. Hope you don't mind answering a few questions. See you there.
I have signed up for a silver subscription but not activated yet.

Welcome Ben. I will be there with my wife on Sat. There will be plenty of good guys there (car guys) that will be great sources of information. You should be able to get all of your questions answered.

There are absolutely great deals out there on the 360 spiders right now. Good luck in the search, that is one of the fun aspects of these cars. Buying any regular car is kind of stressful, but for me buying the Ferrari was a great time. See you tomorrow. I'll be in the 348.

I also lurked for a while and started shopping seriously about 6 weeks ago. I agree that there seem to be some very nice deals out there on 360 cars. Note that in the 360/430 section, there is a thread about buying a used 360 that was helpful for me. Basically, it encouraged me to narrow down the field to 2002 or newer, and USA car vs. Euro. From there, it's all about the colors and options you want and then looking around. Over the past month, I talked to a handful of private sellers and exotic car shops, but the best guidance came from salesmen at actual Ferrari dealerships. I talked to reps from Ferrari of Denver, Ft. Lauderdale and Atlanta, before finally choosing a 430 from Atlanta. If you want specific names of folks to talk to, PM me and I will be happy to offer my thoughts. In general, though, enjoy the process. I stressed through it a bit, because it's a big decision for me, but I am thrilled to have finally gotten the car of my dreams. Don't settle, the right car is out there! Have fun.

    Ben and Stevie !

Come on over to the Cars and Cafe.... best way to meet and greet......get to know who is who, see cars and get more comfortable..... Many of us had the same apprehensions, but like many things in life... until you experience the cars first hand, you'll never understand... There are Ferraris out there with over 100,000 miles on them and I've seen a 328 with 150k+. You only get to go thru life once, and alas... there is only one marque called Ferrari !!!

Stevie, you've got to bring that new ride down !

Speak to Bud Root when you get to Cars and Coffee. He's the host and a very straight up guy. Tons of knowledge about Ferrari and can find you a nice car. Have fun on Saturday.

Welcome!! Now is a GREAT time to buy a Ferrari. Prices are crazy-good for buyers, and there's a lot to pick from.

This place will be a great resource for you, and please come out to C&C this weekend as well as all of the other local events!! There's a great crowd, and a lot of knowledge right here in your own backyard, so to speak. Take your time to find a good car with the options, features, condition, and pedigree you want, since the 'hunt' is not only fun but also puts your learning curve on overdrive!! Plus, in the long run, the time spent to find a good car will likely create an ownership experience far better than anxiously jumping into the wrong car.

Before you start another post on 6 speed vs F1, do a search since this debate has been going on for years and there's tons of information and opinions. But, keep in mind, opinions are like a-holes: everyone's got one!!! Best bet is to drive both and see which one YOU like better.

Look forward to meeting you on Saturday!

Trust me, nothing I want to do more than take the ride out for a spin and check out all the cars. Alas, the kids are on school break, so I am headed to Universal for the weekend :-(

I have, however, had more than a few offers to "help" me by watching the car for the weekend...

FWIW, Bud is exactly the person at Ferrari Ft. Lauderdale I was going to recommend. Very good guy and very open.
