Thanks for posting that. Now ill tell you a story about a boxer recently bought from the good ole USA by a buyer up here in the great white north. The buyer purchased an injected car over the phone for around that price and now that its here its in need of some pretty expensive items. If I take the purchase price of $89K USD for the example Im speaking of, shipping, buyers fees, duty, tires, engine out service, new bumpers to reverse the conversion, wrong radio, dot conversion crash bars, dot lamps in the clamshells and the dollar conversion, were up to over $150K cdn into it. The car will still have issues after all that such as the mods done to the frame and the smog stuff that effected the engine bay and exhaust. No such thing as a cheap boxer, pay now or pay after you get it, it all works out in the end.
I love these type posts-WHAT IS YOUR POINT!!!-WHO F'N CARES if some car, somewhere, with unknow creditials sold for some low amount. No doubt every car has dropped quite a bit thanks to our current economic state, but does it really merit a post? This type of posting should be bannned-seriously......it is very unproductive.
The quote below is posted on another thread, from a guy that was at the auction; "guys, calm down about the 512. I'm here, that car was a mess. bad paint, wrong tools, rusty, leaking oil ,engine compartment needing a lot of attention..the wrong car, not even close to geno's bbi" While the overall value of boxers no doubt has dropped due to the economy, I think good cars will still bring good prices down the road. I know for sure that mine won't move an inch for 85K. John
I saw the car at the auction and it looked OK and not as bad as the poster said. I did not give it a full inspection as I am more interested in race cars. It was hard to get a good look at the cars as they were all jammed together. If any one has pics of this car post them up. The crowd was a much older crowd like you would see at Hershey. Looked like more American iron type buyers then Ferrari guys.
I agree totally, one car has no effect on the market nor does it effect my asking price if I were to sell. There are so many factors as well, condition of course but what about if its an estate sale? In this case it sounds like it was priced accordingly so you pay on the other end.
So shall we start a "The OFFICIAL cheap boxer/TR for sale thread!" like the one in the 3X8 section? There is no cheap Ferrari, we'll never stop writing it.
LOL its not hard to find a thread in the 308 section preaching how cheap they are and will never have any value as a collectible. Ill never understand that approach.
Agree with you and 308s and 328s will become collectibles one day, it may be in another 10 to 20 years, who knows...

Just because some piece of crap sell cheap does not mean prices are falling. You get what you pay for & that goes for all models.
I haven't seen one of those threads in about two years. Cheaper prices may make current owners feel a little blue but they give hope to potential buyers who got passed by during the last rise in values. That's not to be confused with a blind endorsement of cheap Ferraris because we all know there is no such thing. I'm just trying to show the flip side of sliding prices; it's not all bad. -F
You forgot to add the 10% auction fee so the price just went up to $93,500!! BTW I see based on you profile you own a : Scud red 360CS, 575, 599 + a black Honda Civic. All good cars by the way. Since you were some what surprised at the how low the Boxer prices are you may want to know this (based on sale prices realized recently) : 360CS = $130K, 575 = $85K, 599 = $245, Honda Civic $250!!!!!! Bummer... Don't sweat it...
So its official now they are that cheap huh? What's your point OP? Some POS that went at auction means nice cars are that cheap now? Guess we better sell now before they hit 50k the sky is falling. I heard Civic prices were hitting $1.99 and include 2 7 11 hot dogs with each purchase.

Why the DOT crash bars and lamps? 25 years is exempt from DOT, isn't it? What sort of frame modifications were done, and why?
The car was converted to enter the US back when it was new. Not sure if the car would need to retain that crap to stay there but here we dont need it at all so off it comes. The frame was modified to accept and meet the crash standards.
The price of my boxer (like my house) only matters when I sell it. As far as im concerned mine has gone up in value.
Well Im glad to see that the TR guys arent the only ones "Dicussing " low prices. I'll repeat what someone has already posted "There is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari". Plus my own 2 cents You get what you pay for. If you havent sold, you havent lost anything
Thank you A Hudson for pointing that out. A killjoy for sure. Ferraris are fascinating and valuable as well. Constantly talking about valuation is boring though. So... a killjoy and a bore.
