My tank recently started to have some kind of organisms growing in it. They look like 3-4mm worms? They are transparent, tiny, and multiplying all over the sides of the tank. You can see them travelling all over the place, and they are tiny...

    Are these parasites?

I haven't put any new fish in for months. I do use the tubes freeze dried worm cubes as fish treats, but have used these for years...

HELP! What do I do now?!

    Is this saltwater or freshwater?

I'd head over here: http://bb.wetwebmedia.com/ There should be some good answers if you post up your issue. Not sure what the worms are...

not parasites, wont harm the fish. to get rid of them, if you want, try some copper. usually used to kill parasites. also, some fish eat them.

Worms. I used to get them from feeder goldfish I'd feed my Pirahnas. I also recommend copper. Kills em good.

Alright... I am not an aquarium pundit...

What do I do? Just throw in a copper penny? Some copper wire? What :).

Will the copper hurt the snails/frogs/etc?

The copper will kill the snails and frogs.

definitely need to remove the frogs and snails during the treatment. also remove chemical filtrants like carbon. copper can be purchased in a chelated(sp?) liquid formulation from the pet store. follow the directions on the bottle. After they are gone, put the chemical filtrants back in to remove the copper, then put the frogs and snails back in when there is no more copper.

You should get on reefcentral. It is primarily saltwater tank owners but their are quite a bit freshwater tank owners as well.

Do you need to scrub you frogs and snails to remove any cling-ons?

If these things aren't dangerous...I will probably leave things be...

I just have images of second grade geography, where they showed parasites sucking the life out of live fish...

    How likely is this scenario?

+1. Get your frogs and snails out of there and add copper to the tank that has worms in it. I got them from feeder goldfish that I used to feed to my Pacu. (That reminds me that my Pacu were instant garbage disposals. They even ate my 14 inch Pleco! I came home and just saw part of it floating at the top of the 80 gallon tank.)

I don't know what size of aquarium that you have, but if you don't have a tank that you can put them in, go to Walmart, Target, etc and they usually have 10 gallon tanks pretty cheap.
