Hello all, need some info that is not illustrated in the owners manual. I need to replace my brake pads on my 360 coupe before I put her on the road this spring and I also need to replace my tires. So, my question is , while I am jacking up the car,
where do I place the jack stands. I know where the jacking points are , but I can't use the same spot if my hydraulic jack is there....?

BTW, I could not find any answers through searching so your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

Can't remember exactly what I did, but IRRC I just used a small folding jack and did my work quickly and carefully.
In other words, I didn't mess with stands for the front.

The rear though can be accomplished with a combination of the jack point, rear axle housing/tube, and once you remove the rear cover, there are plenty of solid points in which to support the car.
Not the easiest opperation in the world, but that's what I ended up doing.

...upon further reflection, I bet I just used the small jack in front to lift the car, but also stuck my floor jack under something that appeared solid just in case the small jack failed. This was purely a safety gesture.
The car likely would have taken a little damage, but better it than me!

Thanks for the reply, but like I said or maybe I did not express myself properly. I want to put the car on four jack stands while I'm getting new tires put on and being that the wheels are off, I can do my brakes. So basically from what I understand,
I would need to remove the underbody cover at the rear and I can find good support and what about the front?

Thanks again for the input, much appreciated.

The most important thing to remember about placing jack stands:

    Put them UNDER the car!

    ;)

Okay, just kidding! In actuality, you just need four points where the car will sit without wobbling. The further to the corners, the better, but it can be within the wheelbase. Ensure that the points are load-bearing (rather than a plastic piece, a floorboard etc...) Any solid frame piece or crossmember will work on any car.

I have my Sunbeam Alpine on jackstands/wheels off right now. You'd really have to push the thing from the side to make it fall.

    I'll make sure they're under...LOL
All kidding aside, I'm gonna get underneath the car tonight and check where there are solid points and take it from there. I just wanted to know if there were specific areas where to put the stands.

Thanks guys for the responses. Can't wait to get my baby ready for the driving season!!

I jack from the points on the side rail, then put the stands under the lower A arms...this leaves the suspension compressed.

Ok, I understand what you are trying to do now.
Guess I would just suggest not going through all the complications of having all 4 corners off the ground at once.
If it were me, I'd just do a corner at a time thus minimizing complications as well as risk.

Not nearly as glamourous having the thing in the air with no wheels, but believe me... with this low of a car and a lack of exposed hard points, its MUCH easier to just work your way around the car doing one wheel/caliper at a time.

But this is just me without a proper lift, etc. YMMV

Rolling one wheel at a time for tyre mounting would get to be a drag...what if (like my Goodyear Store) t's a few blocks up the street?

I had all 4 off the ground when I did full fluids, had all 4 wheels off at the same time. Can't remember where I put the front jack stands but it wasn't too difficult. Maybe I gook a picture or two. I can check tonight.

I don't have an F360 owners manual but I do note the F355 owner's manual does contain the jacking point locations AND a great diagram of the unichassis at the back of the manual. You will want to use the unichassis to properly position the jack stands, thus avoiding moving parts and body panels.

Assuming similarities of the two models, using information found in the owners manual you should be easily able to raise the car using the jack at recommended jacking points. Then noting the open/accessible areas of the chassis, position the jack stands safely. Test wiggle before crawling underneath.
