Was in New Delhi a day or two back. Spotted a Lamborghini Jalpa there. From far I mistook it to be Ferrari 308 but only on reaching closer I realized that it was a Lambo.
I loved it just because it was a Lambo but it failed to impress me. With small wheels and a huge spoiler it somehow lacked what I expected from Lambos.
Also spotted a Merc 180 SL and unexpectedly it looked better than the Jalpa.
    Will post more pics later.

Where do they service Ferraris in India, and what is the warranty coverage like in India ?

also, I noticed a UP plate on the 430 -- what states have the most exotics in India ?

I wonder if they have a breakdown by state, I.e. Haryana vs Punjab, vs UP, etc

As far as I know there is no official Ferrari Service available in India. Owners have to fly down technicians from abroad. Service issues are of prime concern and that's the reason why potential customers are diverting towards Bentleys and others.

Ferrari provides warranty and I heard a case where a 360 caught fire and it was replaced. Don't know exact details though.

The U.P registered Ferrari was doing rounds earlier in Bangalore and now is in Hyderabad.

This is a wonderful thread. There are quite a few ferraris in india majority of them F430s and F360s.
India actually a huge treasure trove of wonderful cars spanning from the customised roll-royces belonging to the royal families,to the modern day exotics owned by business tycoons.
Lamborghini has an official dealership in india and is doing well.

Yes, a definite shock, India has changed a lot in past 10 years. Read a report few days back stating that by mid 2010 Maserati and Alfa Romeo to start here and by late 2010 Ferrari is expected. By Mid 2009 Jaguar expected.

lol...nice photograph, I like the second one with the guy's mouth open :D. Someone should capitalize in opening an official Ferrari garage in India, imagine the possibilities especially with their growing economy. India's the sleeping giant, someday it will awaken the become a world super power, only a matter of time.

The third photograph...how old is the temple in the background?

Truly is a great thread. I'd like to visit India someday.

I once heard or read about a Maharaja that had a RR with solid-gold body panels, probably around 1920 era.

Would that be truth, or "urban legend", as we call it here?

Yes, official dealership is expected by next year. Today the only difficulties we face in purchasing a Ferrari is - 110% import duty, no official dealership and the roads are still not fine enough to take your car everywhere. As such potential customers are turning towards brands like Bentley which offer far more practical cars for Indian roads.

Sir, such temples are very common in India. Last temple which I visited was about 1200 years old. You can find numerous such places of historical importance all over India. You can check out temples of Khajuraho which are very famous among tourists.

I have no idea about this RR legend. There are numerous legends that revolve around Maharajas and their RRs.One of it says that on being insulted by RR staff a Maharaja started using RRs for dumping garbage.
Before India's independence from British rule in 1947, the Rolls-Royce occupied pride of place in the royal garages of India's maharajas with a 50-strong fleet belonging to the Nizam of Hyderabad.
One of the company's best customers was the Maharaja of Mysore who always purchased his Rollers in sevens. His buying habits passed into company lore as "doing a Mysore".
At least 20,000 Rolls-Royces rolled off the production line before World War II with a fifth of them bound for India. Many included such touches as curtains to shield wives from prying eyes.

Many more collections exist and these are the most famous ones :).

I guessed the temple to be at leat 500 yrs old, and I know there's a particular religious tradition that style of temple is associated with. Right off hand, can't remember style or tradition names, but isn't it common to South India?

A great photo, now desktop background on my screen.

Thanks! I've seen fabulous pics of Maharajas' old RR's, That's fascinating info to go along with them

I'll research around a little about the gold one...I swear I heard that story at one point, many yrs ago.
