There are dealers in the US, UK and Italy who advertise that they can get hold of them. Prices have over recent years been very silly, $5-7.5k, but an original toolkit in its original pouch is very desirable.

I would have thought that the prices would have dipped slightly at the moment but an the end of the day its a very limited supply, very high demand market as lots of people have cars but no toolkits and plenty of people collect the toolkits and have no cars.

    Which country are you in?

Its well worth searching the threads on this site for decent photos of real toolkits, once you understand the slightly different specs over the years at least you are then less likely to get ripped off. I bought a toolkit from a dealer in the US, paid $3.5k, correct pouch, 2 out of 4 spanners correct, correct screwdrivers, wrong plug spanner, new carb tool. Was a bit annoyed as thought i was buying the real deal. On checking email correspondence spanners 'genuine period ferrari' items, just off the wrong car!

How much of a 'toolkit' do you want? Have you got the Jack and other accessories? Jacks, jack pouches and triangles seem easier to source and pop up on ebay from time to time.

If you really want the real thing 100% correct, then the answer is 'as much as you are willing to pay'.

Check out the stickys list on this site for suppliers of replacement toolkits if they will do, you can get decent pouches from NZ and replacement spanners.

the problem is that most of the guys that paid the big dollars had cars and got them out of collectors hands. the ones that are left are left with collectors who don't really want to sell or with people that don't know what they have. i can only think of one that has been offered on ebay in many months. the best bet is to be patient and see what pops up

The original toolkit (all correct tools, in the correct roll) is worth roughly $10K USD. It is a good thing the Dino didn't come with fitted touring luggage...

    $10K?

    No, I don't think so.

I think you could outfit the car with tools, jack etc. for less than that in this market.

At the height of the Dino frenzy 18-24 months ago they were trading for less than that.

i agree with dave, the rule of thumb i had several months back was if the car had/didn't have books and tools that they were worth $10k for the books AND tools together if bought off of ebay

I may be naive, but if x amount of Dinos where built, they all came with tools, jacks
and manuals. Why is everyone looking for them, or at least, it appears there
is an incredible demand with the more incredible prices that go along with them for some rather mundane items. Did all Dino owners loose their jacks and wheel chocks?
Tools, I can understand, as that is common in any brand of car, but a jack?
I know it is important to have posession of said items for concours situations, but seriously, how many in our group show their cars or that are in that impeccable condition?
I think it is pathetic otherwise, to pay that kind of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, when
you can purchase excellent replicas for an amount I consider pricey, yet most affordable if you were to need these tools....For one, dino.de is a great source for
a tool roll, chock, jack for 490 EU, including shipping.
Possibly, there may be something I not understand about the issue.
    Regards. Alberto

It's the size of a pen. We found it walled up in my Dino. It's a metal scribe.

    Well, let's see.

The tool was probably under a buck.

Actually, that's probably exactly where it was at some point in time early in the car's manufacture. :D

However, getting it out of the hidey hole probably cost ten mechanic hours or more, so that makes it worth $2,000.00.

You know, the more I think about it, the Swiss Army issued corkscrews on their troop's multitool; it's a bunch of crap the Dino toolkit didn't come with a corkscrew.

Remember that you could buy replacements when the cars were new. so that means that if Ferrari made X number of cars, they made x +10% of the junk that went into them.

I think the desire to own an original set of whatever came with the car goes along with the desire to preserve the history of the car. You want the books, tools, etc, to make the car complete.

I think it's worth way more. Think about it this way. How can you have a 100 point Dino without an original tool rattling around inside some totally inaccessible place? I don't know about the Concourses you go to but the ones I go to always make you rock the car and listen with a stethoscope to make sure your car has an original rattle.

Wait, you didn't get the corkscrew?? I swear it was in the glove box.

It's made of the same fancy stuff the window crank is made of.

    Pic attached.

Didn't think about it that way.

But you're right. When we rebuilt my Dino, I paid big bucks to make sure it had all of the original factory rattles still in place. You have no idea how difficult it was to find that kind of craftsman.

I found a handful of nuts and washers in the rear trunk of #22641, below the side marker light...I took them out, as they were rusting up.....:D
