can ferrari survive in future?

with the financial crisis now. lets take a look in the future maybe within 20 years. the emission rules will be even stronger than now. can ferrari survive with or WITHOUT fiat in future?

last time was reading an article where a automobile-researcher taked a look in the future and he wrote that just 6 car makers will surive in future. nothing said about ferrari. he said it will be atlease Porsche-VW and Toyota. big concerns.

also whats ferrari without the formel 1? from the worst scenario. when the formel 1 will be dead. can ferrari survive without them? can they make their cars good as now without formel 1? (they transfered alot technique in their street cars from formel 1).

also big question could ferrari survive without fiat as an independent "little special car maker" ???

 

I think they will survive, this financial stuff happens ALL THE TIME I mean look back at the early 80s the late 90s and now... It will come around again and Ferrari is a STRONG brand name only trumped by Coca-Cola around the world... you don't have to worry about them

 

even in the crisis they're making strong benefits and have big queues. ferrari's too wise to be outsmarted by some ecological bans... if they make so great performance features, ecological stuff shouldn't be a problem for them.

The real question is will we like their cars ?

Will they build more Scuds or more Californias ?

I'd rather more Scuds but if the Cali turns into a money maker will they build all Calis & 612s ?

I've seen this claim in the past but never with any links to data or documents supporting it. I find it hard to believe that Ferrari is the second most recognized automobile brand let alone of any product. It can't possibly be ahead of Mcdonalds, Ford, Fedex, Disney, Marlboro, Budweiser, Mercedes, Nokia, GE, IBM, Nike.... I can go on and on.

Edit: I just googled and found several "top 100 brands" lists from various publications. Not one of them even contains Ferrari.

Ferrari will exist for the same reason that thoroubreds still exist. A century ago the average horse was a tool to get from A to B, or to do work. Thoroubreds existed to do neither, they were for pleasure and entertainment. Today a horse doing actual work is only for traditionalist ranchers or for display purposes, a living museum exhibition at a craft fair. But people still enjoy owning and breeding race horses, polo ponies, etc.

Even if the internal-combustion car as we know it ceases to exist in a generation or two, there will still be Ferraris, the most "prestigious" and storied of all sports car makers. These cars have never been about utility, they have always been about pleasure and exhileration. That will never go out of style.

 

I am never wrong in my predictions...

I predict that 30 years out Ferrari will still be kicking.

Sorry to all the fans here but,

500 years out, I see the Ferrari factory will just be an empty crumbling building with a historical marker!

 

20 years from now people will be laughing at early 21st century idiotic belief in the so called "Global Warming".
People will be busy fighting "Global Cooling" and emission rules will be totally different by then....

Look at it this way... if ANY super car maker can survive, it will be Ferrari.

Their biggest threat is being legislated out of business by the various governments around the world or being sued out of existence, not economics.

 

There was an article or maybe in the world book of guiness that the ferrari car is the most recognisable shape in the world.

Ferrari will survive if it wants to.
The question is if the current owners will persevere if it means a cutting back in production and profits.
Many times in the past Ferrari's financial position has been more dire than it is now but the old man's singular determination kept it going.

 

I agree, many of the current cars will still be around as toys, but Ferrari's survival (and every other carmaker's) depends on adopting the next motor technology at the right time.

Whether climate change is real or not, people aren't going to tolerate the crap that spews out of internal combustion engine exhausts: the brown cloud over China is just scary, and it's going to get worse as more Chinese can afford cars. That means that if the U.S. can't invent something better, Asia will -- out of necessity.

Despite its current limits, I'm excited about hydrogen/fuel cell technology. At some point, we're going see an engine or motor technology that simply outperforms the old IC concept and makes it look like a rotary telephone. Then I think we'll all be on board with it because it's better, not because we've all become environmentalists.

 

We will have this amazing technology and some guys will still whine that there's no "manual 6 speed" offered.

By the way, I do agree that Hydrogen fuel cells are the eventual path. Electricity has to come from somewhere so you might as well make it yourself. But, it's going to take a huge investment in infrastructure. We are in a "chicken or egg" situation. It won't happen until we become desperate enough to bite the bullet.

 

The logos will survive, but Ferrari is all but gone already.

Well, if you feel that Ferrari may have some troubles but barely survive, go buy a new Ferrari. All of us should go out and buy a new Ferraril and make sure the factory will survive. :-D

We are fortunate that Ferrari is an Italian company. If it were American, the government would have its hands all over it, telling the execs which government-owned solar panels to put on the roof, and what stations aren't allowed on the radio.

They will survive as the Passion the name evokes still burns but it may be a very different company more like it was in the sixties.

In this week's FML there are 49 430 Spyders for sale. There are 7 430 Scuderia's for sale. Low mileage cars. Why are so many buying, not driving and dumping? I realize these are strange times and some have to but what was in their minds? I really hope people start buying Ferrari's to drive and enjoy not as something simply to buy and sell.

It's a bit scary to think about what REAL demand is. Ferrari has raised their productive capacity by 100% with the goal of selling 5000 California's worldwide in addition to 5000 of their other models. Hold on. You ain't seen nothing yet.

 

I think they already see the writing on the wall,cutting production faster then any other manufacturer.
That original plan of 5000 Californias was just a pipe dream,dealers are not going to get the promised numbers of cars this year,half of it more likely.
