"L" Series Dino for sale

$99 K is a fantastic deal for this museum piece. Very nice.

 

I don't know much about the early Dino's but were the gaps in the hood and (maybe ) the trunk painted body color? Was brown an attractive and sought after color in that era? The dash certainly looks to be a faded original that is for sure? The brake booster, clutch & brake reservoirs don't have the plastic bulkhead surround but maybe that was not done with the early cars either...looks clean. How do these early cars differ from the later ones in these regards? Especially such an original one as this...one could learn a few things here!

I bought the Mega donation charity package last year at the PIR Historic races and one part of the package was a quad demo ride around PIR with a Professional driver. We entered the car and the Driver introduced himself as "Hi, I'm Dominic ..." he moved the car forward through the entranceway at a 60 degree slide but still continuing the introduction in a calm voice said "...and I'll be your driver today". We entered another slide in the opposite direction under full control and I immediately said "Dominic Dobson!?! Oh my I recall you from the Porsche 962 days" He responded in a puzzled tone "Yes" and we then enetered the track ...
What excellent control!

The speedometer looks off center to me compared to the rest of the guages. Why does the panel have USA guages in a Euro car?

i don't know the car, so i was remaining quite, but was wondering the same

 

I used to have 00908. It was red/black and in pretty similar condition and mileage, imported by Ron Tomkin in 1970.

Mine had euro gauges and I didn't have spinners for the wheel hubs (it came with a wrench and lead hammer). These photos make me a bit homesick. Very complete car to do a resto on. The price seems fair to me. I sold mine 15 years ago for $50K. It might be different know but it was too much hassle to deal with California smog every year. I was always fighting with the DMV.

Not crazy about the color though.

S/N 02866 1st known USA version-titled as a 1972 model.

Would have to wonder if USA guages were available when 01100 was being built in 1970.

Were the original wheel spinner nuts for L Dino's straight ear or curved?

 

Interesting here, that a late L-serie Dino already had fitted a M-serie back-mirror.
So the change was already in the L-serie....

Nice car. I like the L series with the KO wheels. Very sporty.

 

Keith, the question here is why should it have had an MPH speedo originallly?!
The car was delivered to Canada and out of my head Canada should have a KM speedo.
Or am I wrong?
Maybe speedo was changed when the was sold to the US.

 

We tried to buy the car for my collection, but seems to be half a day late, must have been somebody local.
