I have been having issues with my 02 360 battery, if it sits one day the battery dies, so I assume the battery is shot. Anyone know where to get a cheap battery ? I have seen some on eBay for around $700 and that sounds like highway robbery to me. Has anyone had theirs rebuilt? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How about maybe.....ummm...your local Ferrari dealer?

I thought I needed one few months back, called the dealer, said they had it in stock for I believe $175.

This has been discussed over 100 times in the past couple of months. If you want less expensive, go with the interstate. Lots of places carry it.

    a) Interstate MTP-91 - make sure to get the vent tube - @$120.00

    b) Odyssey PC-925 - right post positive - @$145.00

    $700.00 for a battery?

I just put a Sears Diehard International in my 575M and it is great. Same cold cranking as the Interstate MTP-91.

I would not go to the Ferrari dealer. It is easy to replace yourself.

Don't forget the exaggerations, your last post was 11/29.

Things get discussed again and again but this was discussed in the past week, hence my response. There are several long threads covering the pros and cons of the 925 and Interstate batteries. They cover construction of the batteries, durability, etc. The threads even have installation pictures where a bunch of guys have put the 925 in their cars, it is smaller than stock so takes a little effort.

If you want simple install go with the Interstate MTP-91. Not sure if Sears makes one that will fit a 360. It is not a standard group 78 battery. The battery in the 360 is much shorter and there isn't enough height to fit a group 78 into the space. I think the 575 has a group 78 battery so there are a lot more options there.

If you want an AGM battery (absorbed glass mat), similar to the factory Gel battery (chosen since the battery's mounted inside the cabin), Interstate does make one.. the MTP-H6A. I believe it's about $275. Both the Interstate MTP-91 and MTP-H6 are standard "wet" batteries, meaning they contain acidic water. AGM and Gel batteries (though still lead acid) are supposedly safer in a crash and are less likely to cause major damage if they leak. I don't know about the H6A's performance, though, just that it's available. I was told the H6A is vented and is the same size as the regular H6.

There are 360/430 owners out there that have been using the wet batteries without issue, but you have to decide for yourself.

Interesting Odyssey story...ordered a PC925T from Portable Power, specifying right post pos...they said, yeah it will be, left post pos is 925L. I get the battery today, it is marked 925, but is left post pos. Cust serv says, that's impossible. I took a photo and emailed, new battery coming tomorrow. BTW, is the right post pos an issue due to cable limitations in the footwell? A bud said, just turn it around...

I can't remember as it's been a while since I have been in there but if I remember it is a cable length.

Word of caution, Gary- There is a metal bar passing over the battery which supports the footrest. Make sure you tie that up out of the way first to ensure it does not come in contact with the + terminal! Big time trouble if it does!!!

There may be a bit of additional hardware needed. I can't remember that either. SkidKid or Ray Johns would know.

Thanks for the tip, Greg. IIRC, a stack of washers and the original mounting hardware works as well as anything.

    Hi Gary,

When I tried the stack of washers it wouldn't fit under the cover. You could get it closed but I just didn't like it rubbing and holding things slightly out of position, maybe the perfectionist in me. That is why I made new rods. You can buy rods at any auto parts store and cut them shorter so you are good to go.
