Fantastic photo album! The Bugatti Atlantic that we see at this meeting, it's the Atlantic chassis number #57591 and its famous registration EXK 6, which at that time belonged to Barry Price. Now it belongs to Ralph Lauren and will be the star in the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este from next 24 to 26 April. It is eighteen years she did not come on the European continent.

Thanks for letting me/us know; kind of generates a new respect (about the dealer) ;)

Now, I wonder if that's the same GS that lives in/around Cincinatti (sharing garage space with the only 4.0 GTO)?

Nope, if you follow the link I provided, GS 004 is in Naples with its owner (listed in the link). GS 002 that you refer to is the one that was at auction this year. GS 001 is with another Fcar guy in Cincinnati. GS 003 and 005 are FL and WA or WA and FL. Whichever one is the Bill Tower car is FL, the other is WA.
    Best,
    Dave

GS 002 was the one you were referring to. According to Napolis, owner sold to auction house in the fall- who failed to sell at Scottsdale in January. Cheers :)

here's one i can share of my Grandfather, George Arents, during a pilot change while racing the 1960 Le Mans ....he gave me this photo already framed years ago- an absolute treasure.....the only race photo i had of him, other than one of him with his father at Bridgehampton ( i think)....until i found you all! I have enjoyed this thread immensely!

Looks to be a Testa Rossa, but a larger pic would help. Full windcreen is 1957 or later, RHD, could be TRC. Neat!

Hi Ney and thank you ! I just found out from my Mom the picture was taken in 1957 (August?) and father and sone had just taken a lap around the course. That day, my grandfather had a terrible crash in that car- put his hip thru the steering wheel. He almost died, and lost 2 inches in height from that crash- they even named that corner (at Bridgehampton) after him....all the years he raced there after that, according to Mom, George had a "perverse glee" conquering that corner!

Love the leather bonnet buckle! Mom has the orginal picture up in her living room:)

The car was 290MM #0616. There are 2 photos of the accident in the Bridgehampton book by Joel Finn.
