The large boulders are natural granite and weigh many tons. The house needed to be built around them.

Just got back from another drive today. I'll post some pics soon.

Hey! I was on that run yesterday and it was a blast! I was looking on all the forums for photos of yesterday and found these.

Bill thanks for showing us those desert roads. What a great day.

I'm always game for those drives.

    Bill,
Apologies for hi-jacking the thread, but I would be very interested to hear how you think the Carrera GT and Enzo compare with specific reference to dynamic reponses (not performance)...... the Porsche is the best car I've ever driven and felt razor sharp and indeed, significantly racier than the (albeit brief) time I spent in the Enzo...
How do the two cars compare with respect to steering/throttle response and handling. Someone known to me on the UK site (pistonheads) who previously owned both, (and also had a McLaren F1) said the Enzo felt like an electric razor and the Porsche felt like a scalpel.
Would be great to hear from an owner who has both.

Is that your yellow CGT as well? My favourite colour combo.

Needless to say, congratulations on your utterly spectacular Enzo, and thanks for sharing it with us instead of hiding it away in a garage just to look at!

    Nik.

Many people have PM'd me about that as I drive the yellow CGT and Enzo back-to-back regularly. Here's what I can say as concisely as possible if I just consider dynamic response. Of course these are my opinions, and I'm not a professional driver. I also keep the Enzo in Race mode all the time:

    1. The throttle response in the Enzo is much faster than the CGT under load. When you blip the throttle in the Enzo, your head will jerk forward and backwards even as low as 5K RPM. The engine "barks" at you. The CGT only does that at much higher RPM, and even not as fast as the Enzo. I was actually disappointed in the CGT throttle response when I first drove it. My CS and GT3 RS are even much faster.
    2. The Enzo steering feels much lighter. It may be faster, but it's hard to say because the lightness overcomes any small difference in speed. It feels like you're driving a car made out of cardboard.
    3. Brake response seems about the same in both cars.
    4. Of course the Enzo's paddle shifters are a major change in shifting dynamics. That alone makes the Enzo faster because your hands are always on the wheel and you don't waste time fiddling with an extra shifter and pedal.
    5. Lateral roll seems more in the Enzo according to passengers, but I think it feels less as the driver. Passengers get sick much faster in the Enzo. I think it's because the entire Enzo responds faster to driver input, which makes it feel like it's moving around much more. The CGT feels much smoother with a slower and more predictable response to steering, braking, shifting and acceleration. The Enzo feels faster and more instant to driver input.
    6. Lateral grip seems the same in both cars. Maybe slightly better in the Enzo, but it's hard to say without really pushing the car past my comfortable limit.
    7. When downshifting into a lower gear in the Enzo as lower speed, you sometimes get engine braking and that upsets the Enzo. I haven't really figured out exactly when this occurs, but when it does it's a little unnerving.

I know some seem to contradict this, but that's what I feel driving the cars back-to-back. The Enzo is racier than the CGT. My sick passengers seem to agree with that! And don't let anyone say the Enzo is not raw. Put it in race mode and you'll crash it in a second if you're not coiled like a snake ready to twist the steering wheel when fully accelerating out of a corner at 7K+ RPM in 2nd or 3rd gear. That's also true with the CGT with TC off.

Other differences are feel, acceleration, and the total ownership experience. But those are different stories.

I would like to add, that Bill actually drives his cars... I don't mean he takes them out for a nice run in the canyons or by the beach... I mean he DRIVES them like they are meant to be driven. I would be very impressed with anyone keeping up. That being said, I believe his comparison between the two cars comes from a real driver's point of view and not a magazine article or a passive owner.

I'm hoping to see an auto club develop in Southern Cal with a track so we can drive these cars like there were designed to be driven. It's inconvenient to drive or ship cars to the other CA tracks. I wonder if anyone is working on that?

Before you die, ship that puppy back to the home land and you and your wife run the Historic Targa Florio with us. The memories will stay with you for a long, long time. As a member of the sanctioning club I can get you an entry even in your Enzo.
