Little video I made of a fellow fchatter's yellow Vector W8 twin Turbo, #12 out of 17 for the world, only one in yellow. Shows the W8 pulling in, interior, engine, exterior, revving, ride, and driving away. Credits to Tony for letting me record all that I did, thanks again for the ride my friend :)

congratulations to an elite club of people who've actually ridden in the mystical Vector W8! I saw the video the other day. With such tall gearing, the car just keeps pulling and pulling. The exhaust on Tony's car sounds odd; but I know there was an amount of aftermarket work done on it. Sounds about right when on boost :)

    Nice video, Brian :)

Just a little reminder about my "old" video from June 2006 of white no. 15
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyC3XEXuJRM Quality isn't as nice as Brian's is; but good for comparison :)

Cool; thanks. Also, funny that a Lambo kit car ad popped up while viewing; I bet a lot of people think the Vector is a Lambo b/c of the doors...

The intake runners were created by a company called "First." The intake you are thinking of is the originally intended "dual plenum" intake; which is good for about 50 additional hp. Only a handful of cars were delivered with this intake; I believe the cars in Europe, and Saudi Arabia have this intake. The First runners are about 3/4" larger diameter than the TPI used by GM in the L98.

They were in fact OEM on the W8.... as is the Roddeck block.

I used to own this car in the early 90's. Alot of people do not know this, but this particular Vector is haunted. It is true.
The guy I bought it from was a serious collector out of Texas named Jim Fanning, who mysterious fell ill shortly after buying the car. I bought the car with the intentions of selling it to a neighbor who only collected yellow cars, by the name of Frank Griga. The weekend following delivery of the Vector to Griga, he was abducted from his Miami Beach home, along with his girlfriend, and they were both brutally murdered. I bought the car back from Griga's sister, and then sold it to a retired car enthusiast out of Ft. Lauderdale Florida by the name of Wayne Swoboda. The car was customized to accomidate Swoboda's height, as well as numerous other serious perfromace tweaks from some of south Florida's most prestigous tuners ( we are talking guys with LeMans and Sebring Trophies on their mantels). Shortly after Swoboda got the car dialed in we took it out on a Sunday morning at 5:00 am, when the roads would be clear, to see what she really had. It was difficult to see your speed in the Vector because your instrumentation was on the far left side of the cockpit, and the guages displayed in either amber or neon green. Swoboda had installed a non glare screen, but it was still tough. He asked me to call out his speed so he could focus on the road, so I had to lean on his right shoulder in order to see the screen. Almost as fast as I could call out the speed we hit the 185 mph mark before he lifted his foot. There was a moment of silence before he looked at me an smiled before saying "she had a lot left to go".
A few months later he was diagnosed with cancer. His son offered to sell me back the car, but truth be known, I was scared because I knew it was haunted.
I lost track of the car after that, but I can confirm to you that this was the finest Vector W-8 ever built, even though I am not a huge fan of Ostrich Skin leather.

    Gary,

Haunted by whom? Accident? both previous owners passed away from natural causes. I have owned this car for almost 10 years and it has brought me nothing but luck.

The cars is great and you are lucky to be part of the priviledged few to ever ride in a W8 much less own it. The car was never in any type of accident that I am aware of. If you have owned it for 10 years you have definately broken the curse. Have you broken the 200mph mark yet?

I LOVE the W8's! Too bad they never really got them selling like they could have with proper management of the company...would have been GREAT to see a fully American car company throwing down an exotic car that can run with the best. The ZR1 is AMAZING in its performance, but ultimately it is still just a Vette...

    Gary,

I have not reach that high speed. I don't have tires for it, Michelin stop making them since 95. The car is current for sale on Ebay, you can view more photos there.

There are 17 production cars and half of them are out of US and the rest in private collectors or museums. You will never see these W8's again for a long time.

I googled them and read the story. truly horrible. God rest their souls. :( to think that this was the Vector that one of the perps was driving is a bit weird (mis-labeled a yellow Lamborghini in the article). talk about crazy and horrible provenance.

Yellow Lamborghini Diablo picture on the wall http://www.trutv.com/shows/rich_and_reckless/index.html

Then - "Griga began to collect luxury automobiles, among them a $200,000 royal blue Vector, a rare, handmade, experimental sports car; a Dodge Stealth for running errands; and the Lamborghini Diablo."

    http://www.miaminewtimes.com/1999-12-30/news/pain-gain-part-2/11

must have been an M12. But I wonder whether these reporters really get the facts right.

The night of the murder, he was in the Yellow Diablo. So that aspect is correct. He also had a Yellow Viper and several other Yellow Vectors. I do not think the M12's were around at that time.

Only one yellow W8 was made. There were two yellow M12s made, the first making its debut in early 1995 (though it is no longer yellow).

Hey Gary, I saw this car in the summer of 1994 here in Eagle River, Alaska. Do you know who owned the car at that time?
