Ok, Who else thought it was terrible for the "Kim-ster" as they say to be in shorts with an ice cream in one hand and a soda in the other - BEFORE the race was officially called? I'd have to imagine Luca isn't happy.
Apparently his KERS system didn't survive the water. The car was in the pits. Nothing Kimi could do. Besides: He was something like 16th in a race that would last maybe 11 laps at the most, presumably all done behind the SC. What's there to gain? Except electrocution.
Yea i saw one of the Ferrari technical team saying the KERS had a problem, and thats why it was in the gararge. The car drank a lot of water today, even DC commented that it was not going to be good for it. If you remember the pictures the car looked like it was driving through a ford/stream/river, drinking in the water as it went.
It didn't make me angry, it made me laugh my ass off. These guys are all supposed to be on KERS diets, yet Kimi was eating an ice cream and drinking a coke. Which is a terrible combination by the way.
As I said in the other thread, if they have done their homework, all the KERS components should be able to work in a flooded submarine. Keeping water away from electrical components isn't THAT new as a task for engineers...
Good point! Maybe Kimi knows that he won't have to be slim for KERS for much longer... I read your comment and know you're an engineer. But I think there is a difference between submerging a self contained ECU into water and running tons of cables to all nooks and crannies of your car to connect a stowed away KERS battery. Also the Voltage for the ECU is 12 V (I presume), so if it goes bad, you blow a fuse. If KERS shortens, you end up with a fried driver.
Yes, there's a difference, but they have like, 900 people working at their F1 team? There must be someone among them being able to make sure every component can safely be used in wet conditions. They don't have to reinvent the wheel, there are thousands of guidelines and standards for "electrical system that has to work in the wet", for every kind of voltage, every kind of current and every kind of wet! I have some catalogues with all kinds of connectors and cables somewhere from the days when I designed the wiring harness for our formula car, if someone from Ferrari reads this and needs them, I'll be happy to send them to Maranello
...sorry to say...but this is USUALLY what happens when an Italian runs the Ferrari team.... What salary would Brawn command now if he entertained returning to the Scuderia...? Can you say.....BILLIONS..!!
Frankly, who cares? I mean, what could Kimi do? Even if the race re started behind the SC, no overtaking is permitted, and Kimi was in last place.
According to mtv3.fi Kimi's car was parked on a rubber pad so that no one would get electrocuted. Smooth...
OTOH, if someone had got shocked, we'd all be saying "they're dumb for not parking it on the rubber mat"..... Cheers, Ian BTW - Returning to the OP - I have no problem with Kimi's "look" - His diet maybe, but not his attire.
To be fair, the problems and silly mistakes started back in 2005, still with Ross Brawn and Co. At least Domenicalli managed to win a few championships, more than Ross Brawn did in his last years at Ferrari. The problem is not in one single person.
Yeah he should have stayed dressed in his racing suit outside getting wet, while his race was over...just to look "professional", some people are so ridiculous, give the guy a brake.
+100! When Massa gets good enough to win a WDC then he can chill out and eat ice cream too. Exactly! Kimi's not a team puppet....that's Massa's job. And Massa does it very well.
Massa is now ready to take your order of chocolate cookies. In the pre race interview with Windsor he did the team player thing again. I was about to puke.
he's proven himself as a world champ...if he wanted to have an ice cream and a coke so be it. he's still awesome!
