I was driving my 360 today when all of a sudden the check engine light came on. About an hour later, I restarted the car to head home and the check engine light was off. The light originally went on while I was in motion. It went off the next time I restarted it. Any thoughts?

Had you purchased gas slightly before you got that CEL?

Yes, I put gas in the car about an hour before the light came on.

Ok, with the car not running, remove the gas cap. Check to make sure the rubber gasket is ok.

Screw the cap back on tightly and everytime you get gas make sure the cap is on snuggly!

    Common cause of CEL's!

What GCalo?? No rubber joke?? :)

Some of you guys are chuckling right now because you know I just went through this very same problem.

The rubber gasket inside my gas cap (2004 360) gave up the ghost and fell out while I was filling up gas one day. This gave me a check engine light that took 2 trips to the dealer to figure out.

The CEL is almost certainly related to your gas cap. The only thing that is strange about your situation is that I have read that a bad gas cap sensor will usually take about 8 ignition cycles to clear after you readjust the gas cap unless you reset the ECU. You guys can correct me if I am wrong about that.

Check out my thread. It may sound familiar.

Wow, that 8 cycle part is interesting. I did stop and start the car several times before the light went off. I might have even been as many as 8 times. hmmmmmmmm makes you think.....

    Thanks
