I was over at my neighbor across the street looking at some of his hand carved items this afternoon. I had no idea he is as good as he is. He showed me two hand carved guitars he had at the house today. I also did not know he had a website. I am enclosing the link to it here. Take a look and let me know what you think about his work, especially the guitars.

The guitar actually sounded quite good also. I do not know much about guitars but they look good.

I am not trying to sell them to you, just let me know what you think of having a hand carved body.

Beautiful workmanship, but kind of corny to my eye.

With the carved electrics shown, I think most people wouldn't want to play them for fear of defacing the carvings. As purely decorative pieces, I guess they'd be ok.

Yeah, his son plays in a band in Chicago and Tore sent him the Nordic Gods one with Troy carved into the body. His son says it is something to pass down but plays his Fender in the band.........

His walking canes are really classy. If a person needs a cane, one of these could really show some persaonality..........

Watching him work with the wood is really cool. Very labor intensive......

Sweet mother of G! The concept is fantastic!!! Why hasn't relief sculpture been done before by Fender or Gibson? Work in some gold & ivory inlay & you really have a work of art. Shall I say "masterpiece" (Smith & Wesson).

Several months ago I saw him working on one of his chests. It was absolutely beautiful. He started this a hobby to keep him busy after he married Joann and retired. She still had a couple of years to work before she retired. she has since retired and they take some of his work on the road.

Tore is a cool guy. I just stand in amazement at the talent some people have when they let go and begin doing things they love.. Tore is out in his garage shop everyday with the door up where anyone can watch him work. People stop by to chat, the letter carrier drops by checks to see what else is new. Every piece is different as each one is done by hand.

My son is going to get a new wooden mute for his tuba and Tore is going to hand carve a relief of "Thor" on the top of it. The tuba is a Meinl-Weston "Thor" tuba so the relief of the Nordic god is appropriate. It should be very unique and certainly one of a kind.

As works of art, the guitars are beautiful.

Over the years, I've destroyed many with heavy playing, and I sure wouldn't want to regularly play one of the carved ones. They're works of art that shouldn't be defaced.

I am not a real guitar player so I actually know very little about them. I have an old Martin acoustic that I pick around on sometimes but I am by no means an accomplished player. It looks as though something is missing on these as they only have one pick-up and two knobs. None of those handles that I see on so many electrics. But it sounds good when plugged into a good amp and played by someone who knows what they are doing.

I agree with you. Works of art are meant to be put up and admired. Guitars are meant to be played. I wonder what Willie Nelson would do to one of these? But I still think they are beautiful and if you could have one to play and one to have personalized and kept, one of these would be it.......

I wonder what Willie Nelson would do to one of these after seeing what he has done to "Trigger".

It's a Fender Telecaster, or at least based on that style. It actually has 2 pickups and a 3-way selector switch next to the knobs. It only uses 2 knobs, one for volume and the other for tone. Different guitars are just configured differently--for example a Fender Stratocaster (like Clapton) uses 3 pickups, 3 knobs and a 5-way switch to toggle between the pickups. The knobs are 1 volume and 2 for tone. My Gibson uses 4 knobs, with a separate volume and tone knob for each of the 2 pickups. The bar you mentioned is a tremolo or "whammy" bar. It bends the strings--pushing down slackens them and pulling up tightens them. Towards the beginning of Van Halen's Eruption you hear a long divebomb sound, and that's done with the whammy bar.

Willie has played that axe for heaven only knows how many decades, but it still sounds good. Guitars are like boots, the longer you wear(play) them, the better they feel.

All my best guitars are from the the 50's and early 60's......They get MUCH better with age. They play and SOUND better.
I personally wouldnt be caught dead playing an ornate carved axe........I like my 56' Les Paul through a 65 Princeton and 51 Deluxe
at the same time. The patina on my les paul alone is more gorgeous than any carving could be.
