    wife goes to China in 1 week.
    must email me 3-5x daily!
    email most important, not phoning...
    not gonna carry her pwrbk!
    how can I help her get set up in advance?
    she has iphone 3G, but at&t locked
    also has older Treo 680
    could she just get a 'China' sim card for the treo?
    what is the EASIEST, not necessarily the 'best'??
    we are clearly behind the tech curve here......help!!!!!
    landing Shanghai, then to Hangzhou
    can anyone on the ground help?

    I use my blackberry in China all the time with never a problem. Just get one and problem solved.

    I used my phone from USA and change out to China Sim Card, worked out fine on Local & International.

    Just buy a china sim card , it should be fine.

    Your wife might have roaming, and her phone might work

    Get the phone unlocked so you can use it on China's network and not get shafted by At&T's roaming charge.

    Well, you can do those things but you asked for the easiest and I gave it to you. Get a blackberry and test it before you go. When you hit the ground, just turn it on. Simple.

    Going to China is not like dropping off the face of the earth!! The mobile technology there is advance as anywhere else. Just make sure if your carry a US unit that the lock been disabled and also buy a China sim card if you need such.
