Can anyone provide some info on what exactly the Fiorano package is? On which 575's (year) was this available as an accessory?
    Same question for GTC.

    Many thx.

    Taz,

Is it true that if you get a late 2004 FHP 575M and only add the HGTC computer you will have everything but the sport exhausts and the brakes?

Titanium- Unfortunately not. Sometime in late 2004/2005 we think the FHP steering ECU was made standard, and during the 2005 model year the HGTC shocks were made standard, but that is all. There was a different shock ECU for the HGTC that never became standard. The standard 2004 575M did not have the HGTC FHP springs or stiffer rear anti-sway bar either, and neither did the standard 2005 models.

The big changes in the 2004 model year were the elimination of the central muffler and introduction of new, matching rear mufflers and the addition (not on my 2004, just missed it) of a steering angle sensor. Better F1 clutch position sensor connectors were also introduced in 2004.

New shock absorber ECUs were introduced in both 2004 and 2005, different from the HGTC ECU, but the shocks were only changed for the 2005 model.

So it seems in terms of the suspension at least if you installed an HGTC suspension computer in an FHP car (sometime in late 2004/2005 vintage) you would still not have the correct shocks. And no late 2004's had HGTC rear shocks, but all 2005's did? What VIN or build number would you need to be later than?

You would also still need the transmission shift ECU?

Titanium- HGTC shocks became standard after Assembly No. 55769. An HGTC shock ECU should work fine with the earlier rear shocks fitted from assembly No 48712, and the earier front shocks, which were identical throughout production until 2005 and the Assembly No above. Have not heard of anyone trying that, but it may get rid of some of the softness about which people complained. Cheaper than $8-10K for new shock absorbers at ~$1000 for the ECU. Let us know if you try it.

There was a software and hardware kit to go with the revised HGTC F1 ECU and I do not know everything that kit did. Probably needed to be used in conjunction with an SD2.

As for the HGTC exhaust, you just need to keep searching. Mine was $399 on E-Bay.

For anyone who might be interested and haven't seen these already, there are several gated 6-speed 575Ms on Autotrader: A 2002 Grigio Alloy/dark blue; 2003 Titanium with grey daytonas and black inserts; and a 2004 rosso corsa with black daytonas and red inserts. Would the 2004 have to have been an HGTC?

Taz you say that all 575's 2002 - 2005 were fitted with FHP, is the States only I assume? Don't think my 2002 575M UK spec has the FHP fitted...how do you know if it has or hasn't?

I must admit 2 years on from purchase my car feels different than it did when I got it only because I am used to it now. I used to think it was stiff in corners but now I know the car well I can say that it would benefit from a stiffer spring / shock / roll bar set up. It is quite a handful at speed on twisty English roads. It also "bucks" when accelerating fast as you change gear. Accelerate fast and the nose lifts, change gear nose drops head hits the head restraint, gear engages and the nose lifts again and back goes the head. Dives quite badly too under heavy breaking.

Just what did the FHP improve?

FHP was not standard but an option. Post #1 and 2 will answer your inquiries.

Caspian- Drew is correct, FHP was always an option. We have discussed this before, but if it were my car I would upgrade in this order:

    Install the FHP steering ECU.
Buy and have installed the FHP rear anti-sway/roll bar.

Drive and see how you like it. If still too soft:

Buy and have installed FHP F&R springs. Try and buy the Cosmos springs, which are less than half the price of the alternative FHP springs.

One thing we have discussed and nobody has tried, as far as I know, is swapping out the Shock Absorber ECU for the HGTC ECU. The two ECUs, steering and shock, could both be installed in less than an hour.

If you want FHP brakes, Continental has an E-Bay offering of take-off factory FHP Pagid RS 4-4 pads, including factory wear wiring. Henry and I were able to buy F&R sets for $500-600 total and they still have two sets remaining. Dirty, but virtually brand new. The pads were removed because the customers complained about brake squeal.

Do you have a link I can follow for Continental's OEM Pagid pad offering. My search turned up nothing

I just had to say: I got my 575 back from the shop last week-- FHP springs, steering ECU, and rear sway bar installed (+25mm Hill Engineering rear spacers)...and I'm lovin it.

Steering is much more confidence-inspiring at speed, slight rear wheel drift now feels much more predictable than before...no more "whoa bessy, what's goin on back there!"

highly recommended to those who are considering it!

as has been mentioned elsewhere, the FHP springs raise the car, so it has to be lowered by an inch or so post-installation.

currently at a loss as to other components/improvements to be added/made. I guess there is always that airbag re-cover job

Robie- Welcome to the FHP club. Definitely a different feeling car with those simple mods and not too expensive to do. No trouble hanging with a Porsche TT in the twisties now. Most worthwhile investment you can make on a 575, and the good news is it fits on all of them from 2002 to 2005. Fits the 550, too.
