Bit more than a body kit. 400 lbs lighter. 200 unique engineered systems. .5 second faster 0-100 KPH. Higher VMAX (233) Twice the downforce of an Enzo. More balanced than an Enzo. More tire. Ipod. :)

The Fartmonster is indefensible so it's necessary to attack something else instead.

I disagree, how can a supercar enthusiast look at a Reventon and feel anything but desire? It seems to me the haters have a problem not with the Automotive side of the Reventon but the cost. So if your not a buyer whats the problem? if you are one of the 20 buyers , well its your money so you can do what you like with it, i think the nay sayers should wake up to this pure and simple fact, either you want it and can afford it, or you cant end of story.
You cant attack Lamborghinis business acumen for selling this car at this price, you must attack the buyers. Though as its their money you have no right to attack the buyers. Im waiting for an intelligent attack from someone on this viewpoint, should be interesting!

I'm not sure I understand this part: "either you want it and can afford it, or you cant end of story."

What about those who can afford one but don't want one?

Maybe you are missing my point. This car was a quickly packaged cash-cow designed to put a quick 20 million dollars in the bank. It's supposed exclusivity was targeted at some of Lamborghini's most affluent customers. It was marketed in a rather dark and somewhat underhanded way.

The river of hype flowed a mile wide but turned out to be only an inch deep.

Step back, take off the rosy goggles and look at it. It's just a dull gray Murcielago with a few sharper edges, some LEDs and a few carbon fiber scraps screwed to the rims.

My issue is with the Company, not their customers.

I have no ill-will toward anyone who bought the car or any of it's fans. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Ah i see your point more clearly now , but i still feel the car is special. Dont forget if you are old enough you may remember the utter dismay that the now revered F40 was met with by the press.
I still have the articles somewhere to prove what im saying. I recall that many journalists at the time thought Ferrari were blatantly passing off a quickly thrown together inferior product. Whilst Porsche were working on the most technically advanced car of the day the 959, here were Ferrari coming out with something that was merely the engine from the 288 with cheap aerodynamic bodywork unstyled except by a windtunnel, thrown on top of a chassis. With no real interior and a hugh afterthought tail stuck on the back more function than form. These are not my views merely what was expressed at the time. Yet now the car is totally on a pedastool, seen as the ultimate road racer, with those early views totally gone and i daresay forgotten, but the question still remains did Ferrari produce an emperor with no clothes and get away with it???? were the early views anchored in some truth. I Guess what im saying is a great car is a great car, even if produced by some underhanded negative cynical marketing men in charge.

Which press did you read because i still have the french press from the time and they all love the F40. SUre they bashed the fact that the car was cheaply made and had no electric window etc, esp since it was priced at almost 2x the price of a Testarossa but all of that was forgotten the moment they drove the car. And the F40 is exactly what you accuse it to be. It's Function over form.

I think if i remember correctly it was Autocar and possibly Car or Fastlane, and i say again those were not my views. I'm not accusing it of anything ;-) that was what was said by Journalists at the time.

    Well said.

I think the car is beautiful and would have made a great final end to the LP640 series, for a moderate price increase.

However, to put a body kit on a regular LP and charge 3 times the price is an insult.

    Let's go back to F40 times :

that car was actually a quickly packaged cash cow made to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary
It wasn't even a new car but a rebodied go kart like lightweight mass produced 308 with 2 BIG turbos attached to it .

at first they announced it as a limited edition car
with only 200 units coming to America ....

then "The Old Man" passed away ...

the company didn't miss the chance the capitalize on it or making a quick buck

and suddenly they decided to keep making cars to the point of becoming it a "production car" with more than 1300 units ... hurting the value of the original intended run in the process

Who's ripping off their costumers ?

    Now in the present day ;
Who still believes they only produced 399 Enzoes ?
    which btw is overrated IMO

I'm pretty sure you are referring to a different Company. Their apparent disregard for their customers is well documented elsewhere on this site.

Your examples are "apples and oranges", both Ferraris are far more than cosmetic makeovers of the current model.
