The Enzo driver needs some driving lessons.

You know, just a straight up quarter mile race between an Enzo and a ZR1 would actually be a pretty decent match, I'd think. I'd say the Enzo would win, but no more than maybe 1/2 a second or so.

I think 1 on the mags had the enzo just .2 secs faster.
The Vette driver will have to nail the shifts to have a chance.

Motor Trend tested the ZR1, Enzo and CGT:

    0-60 and 1/4-mile:

    Enzo 3.4 sec, 11.0 @ 133.9
    CGT 3.6 sec, 11.1@ 133.4
    ZR1 3.3 sec, 11.2@ 130.5

Enzo is the fastest in the 1/4 mile. Enzo also hits 180 mph in about 24 seconds vs. 35 seconds for the CGT. I haven't seen that time for the ZR1.

... Motor Trend's performance numbers are historically "all over the place"

Also, the CGT's high drag sillouette is responsible for it's rougher accel. from 130-180 mph. Porsche sacrificed top speed performance for a more beautiful shape... (all comes down to personal preference... I love them both)

The 911 GT1 is actually faster than a CGT 130-180

Do you have an example of something crazy from Motor Trend? The car mags are usually pretty careful when they test the cars, with the expected variations in the driver's skill in launching the car and shifting.

I agree with the CGT. It's not as aerodynamically stable or as sleek as the Enzo at high speeds.

One example that comes to mind is the S197 Mustang... 0-60 in 5.0 one year, and 5.6 the following year. Car and Driver is more consistant IMHO.

Still, there are some individuals who just excell in acceleration numbers... Ranger and his Corvettes comes to mind... How many people can feel the difference between a non-torque management car, and a torque management car?

Don't you just love twelve cylinders? :)

Also, the Vette would have to be stupid perfect off the line. That thing is not gonna have too much traction to work with compared to the Enzo. Nor the launch control advantage.

From www.fastestlaps.com, which seems to match some other sources within a few seconds:

    0-300 km/h (0-186 mph)

    Enzo 26 sec
    ZR1 32.6 sec
    CGT 34.2 sec

So the Enzo reaches 186 mph about 7 seconds sooner than the ZR1 and about 8 seconds sooner than the CGT.

Drag Racing Times has what to do with Sports Cars?

Around the Ring the ZR 1 leaves the Enzo and everything else far behind and the new Bertone Supercar on the ZR 1 chassis will leave the ZR 1 behind as well as it's lighter with better Aero.

Compared to Marks 930-17 (0-200 in 11 seconds) Or Hans 959 (6:30 around the ring) all of these are slow.

I assume you're saying that in praise of the Enzo, as it's the only car listed there with a 12-banger?

    Exactly.
1/10th sec off here, or a tenth added there to the standing quarter... It gets a little banal and sidelines the purpose that these were built as production sports cars.
Put another way: since when do we need a radar gun to help us decide which car we like?

I agree that 0-60 and 1/4-mile is not exciting and rarely done with a Ferrari, but I think some Super Ferrari owners would not be happy if they knew there were several production cars that were much faster to 186 mph (300 km/h). It's a real thrill to experience that in 26 seconds in an Enzo with the sounds and feelings that go with it. I would expect the next Super Ferrari to do it even faster.

There's a video somewhere out there in this great big Internet, of a driver for Koenigsegg, driving a Koenigsegg around the Nürburgring. It's a great video; the sound is awesome and the in-car view makes for a very exciting 7+ minutes. At the end of the video, the driver shares his driving impressions - including how he feels cars like the Enzo have less body roll than the Koenigsegg, thus enabling them to corner quicker. As a future Enzo owner, I'm okay with Corvettes being able to take me off the line - I know that my Enzo will be able to carve corners with the best of them and overall handling and performance are more important to me than light-to-light cafe races. That being said, Corvette hit a grand slam with the ZR-1 and the car should not be slept on or ignored or cast aside as just another Chevy.

Full disclaimer, I own a 599 and would never replace it with a ZR1 - BUT - having driven the Chevy, it is a phenominal achievement. I can't wait to see the performance of the Bertone ZR1 which will have a far more effective aero
and brakes package than anything else out there, as well as 200lbs less weight than the current Vette. We can all then begin to debate which is faster, the Bertone or Jim's P4/5?
    Should be fun!
