Who used to play this game on Playstation 1 and then 2 ? I cant wait for the new one on PS3/360.
Ive always been a big fan. Really liked the way the last one reinvented the franchise. Unfortunately Im hearing from insiders that the new one is a total rehash of the last one...which is a bummer. Guess we will see soon enough.
My roomate managed to get the Japanese demo to work on his 360 a few months ago. It looked pretty crazy. I never got into the RE series but according to him it was awesome
I didn't play the originals on the Playstation or PS2, but RE4 for the Wii is awesome (the Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii, not so much).
Only played the first one that debuted on Playstation, but it was awesome. Those damn dogs jumping threw the window scared the **** outta me the first time I entered the hallway.
I played through and beat the first 3 Resident Evils... all fantastic... all of them really scared the crap out of whoever was playing. I didn't play many for a while, for instance did not get in to Resident Evil Zero at all... Resident Evil 4 was absolutely fantastic. PLayed through it multiple times on my Gamecube, then went and bought it AGAIN when it came out for the Wii. I fully intend on buying RE5 for the PS3 when it is released.
I cant wait. I hope it will bring back the same scary moments from the first ones. The dogs, the birds , the zombie out of the closet..or that huge monster, Nemesis,who wouldnt stop chasing you no matter where you were.
I used to play the RE2 on Playstation about a decade ago, I was wondering about the new PS3 version but rarely have time to get so involved in games like this.
I just picked RE5 up last Friday... a friend was up visiting, so he and I played through the game over the weekend together, and we really enjoy the game. The split-screen isn't the standard side-by-side, so it gives each player the full view... but it only uses roughly 2/3rds of the screen, I thought it was a very nice touch. I'm going back through playing it on my own again already, but have been very busy this week, so I've only gotten a few chapters in. Some negatives... the inventory system can be very aggravating at times when your partner is computer controlled... trying to get them to use a gun other than the pistol when you are being rushed by a crowd can be damn near impossible All in all, not quite as good as RE4 (a 10/10 IMO), but I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I'm giving it an 8.5/10...
I bought it when it came out and amazingly to me, i finished it 5 days later. I didnt even play that much as my GF was getting PO'd. I probably played for 10 hours. It's the first RE that was a big disappointment. It wasnt even that good looking. The only reason why im not selling it, is because it's my only PS3 games.
My friend was very let down by this RE game. He said its like a mindless action game with a RE brand. You need to get Metal Gear Solid 4. Makes owning a PS3 acutally worth it.
I never had the chance to play RE 1 and 2 but I might this weekend or so. I have played RE4 and it was excellent. RE5 seems too short and not scary enough but still its still pretty fun. Also the AI partner isn't as bad as people say she is. I'm going to agree with PaulK on MGS4.
I've played through RE5 three times now (once with my friend (on my PS3), once with my brother (on his PS3), once by myself), and I'm on my fourth, now in normal difficulty unlocking more stuff. I've gotten infinite ammo for initial handgun, the first shotgun you pick up, and two of the mags... Things tend to go much quicker when you are doing 5000dmg/bullet (10,000 if you pierce), and you never have to reload... I intend to beat all four difficulty levels. As far as MGS4... yes... that was an absolutely fantastic game... will have to go back and play that again at some point as well...
IMO RE5 is just like a rehash of RE4 but with co-op. It's really not much fun unless you play with a friend.
I'm working on getting S rankings on all lvls right now. Played through 2.5 times and love it. I farmed a couple of the levels for money to upgrade/get better guns. Graphics are cool for me, the AI wasn't too bad, and the gameplay was good. It's no RE4, but nothing ever will be. Also, I'm a huge fan of Umbrella Chronicles. My buddy and I play coop on both and enjoy it.
Nice. Getting the S rank is mainly about time... just go quickly, don't die, and forget about picking stuff up. It really helps to have infinite ammo for one or two guns as well when trying so that you don't need to waste space for ammo. I'm just about to chapter 6 on Professional mode, with all guns fully upgraded and infinite ammo for roughly half of them, with the infinite ammo rocket launcher (a must have IMO for Professional)
Oh yes, I've got the infinite rocket launcher and a few other w/ infinite ammo. I got the magnum upgrade gun (forgot what it's called) and maxed that out with unlimited, too.
