The first overlay shot tells the tale. If you take the effective scrapping point, the point that P 4/5 and the Enzo are the same distance to the ground, before the bottom of P 4/5 curves up, to the center of the front wheel, remember once the wheel reaches the bump the scraping stops, the difference is huge.

The exhaust looks just like two King Cobra's coiled and ready to attack.

Jim give us a little "Sal-background." The guy is obviously amazing under the bonnet of just about anything you throw at him. I see this based on the eclectic array of autos you have collected. So what's his story, what can't he do etc?

Jim, I was describing the car (P 4/5) to a friend the other day when he asked me how much it cost? I chuckled a little and told him what a comparable Enzo would be worth, but then I remarked that even that was no good indicator of comparative analysis.

Forgive me if the matter has either been stated before or is too delicate to discuss here, I could certainly understand either. But purely in terms of a fair-market approach, what do you suppose it is worth? I gave my friend a range, which was the best I could do under the circumstances and still his jaw dropped. But I really don't know. I know you probably have no designs to ever sell it but for insurance/replacement cost purposes there has to be a number affixed to it which could of course vary greatly from the fair-market's appraisal of the car.

Telling my friend about your car and also seeing the listing elsewhere that the one-off Rolls-Royce Hyperion was to be for sale got me thinking about this. They share designers and I'm a big fan of JC's work. Hope it's not too intrusive of a question.

Think of it this way. A Mideast Royal Family asked Ferrari to buy nine P 4/5's. I said no. It's not for sale nor will be in my lifetime nor do I think my son will wish to sell it either.

P 4/5 was built in a magic moment in time. For many reasons it's very unlikely that a similar car will ever be built again. One off, built and designed outside the system by Pininfarina without the prior consent of Ferrari, on a Ferrari Supercar chassis named after the founder, subsequently recognized as an official Ferrari and allowed to be so badged, given a unique model designation, that to date is the fastest fully world wide legal road Ferrari in existence, that has won the Prototype Class at Villa d'Este, The 2007 Italian Design Award, and has a fair number of Internet pages that mention it...

You tell me.

 

I for one am happy there will be none other P 4/5's produced.

I bet the Royals are still displeased with the answer of "No". lol

 

Well, now that you put it that way...Jeez, that's a lot of credentials.

Jim--When Project M is unveiled, will we see it paired in public with P4/5? Obviously the brand difference may not deem it necessary, but the similarity of the approaches, not to mention Jason's influence over both of them, make it seem like a natural thing.

At some point I'm sure that may happen although no immediate plans. M will be at Shanghai, VIlla d'Este, and Pebble.

My number range is pretty high, say more than a couple Enzos but less than a 250GTO. Ehh, I'm being coy. I do have it more localized than that.

 

Mr. G., you neglected to mention that you used the last "mint in box" new Enzo for your project!

I must jokingly warn ya that, when my lottery win comes in, I'll be using an F50 (for the manual gearbox) as a basis for a modern interpretation by Pininfarina of their 365/P Guida Centrale (the Fred Simione one), my favorite rear-engined Ferrari...

Still, you'll have the better provenance, a faster car, etc..

 

BTW I think that car is still owned by Coco on loan to Fred's Museum.

 

Mr. G is correct the car is only on loan to The Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia (semi-shameless plug ), Fred and Coco are good friends.

It was so a man could drive with a woman on each side of him, I think many guys pictured two luscious ladies, but ended up with his wife and mother in-law on the other side .

After the F1 race I went for a nice drive in P 4/5. Came upon a very bad accident on R 22. Motorcycles/cars/Fire Trucks.

The road was closed and the Ambulances weren't in a hurry to get moving.

I watch it sometimes. I watched Bahrain this year as last year I was there for the F1 race as was P 4/5. That adventure was amazing.

 

Drove her up to Monticello Motor Club which is a private 4.2 mile track. Turned some great laps and drove home.
