How about you just throw it in with the Audemars Piguet that I am assuming I will win (karma owes me!) and I'll pay you in installments? P.S. Agup48, you've got $$$$
Karma owes me more since I pulled that little girls puppy out of a burning building while simultaneously carrying a turkey so it could cook and feed her family. Just saying....
Thank you all very much for those that helped, they know who they are, and thanks to those that didn't for your advice. I understand this was a stupid way to go, but I am a stupid person (apparently). I apologize if I offended anyone in this thread, as that is not the intention. Thank you again for your help!!
Damn, I was going to joke around and create another thread later on and see what the response would've been. Thread title: Please Help Again! Well on my way to giving her the money...
And when you are ready to send it back, PM me and I'll give you my UPS World Ship account number and I'll pick up the shipping charges. Ashwin: Over the next 24 hours, make notes of everything you have learned from this thread and post them.
I think you learned a very important lesson about your perception of the value and strength of the online relationships you have 'built' in this community. I'm astounded that you scraped together the money; I hope you can pay it back. Good luck.
So, after all is said and done, are you gunna tell the folks? I once handed a pair of brand-spankin'-new white socks to a sockless, homeless man whose stomping grounds were part of my commute. A few feel-good days later, at a stoplight with Chinese take-out calling my name, I noted my erstwhile benefactee's usual resting spot, a bus bench, with dirtied socks dangling outside worn blanket was all a-moving in a humping arc... and a mad dash to the finish. [Obligatory]I think I just threw up in my mouth a little[/Obligatory] again.
Speaking of homeless or sort of.... Got a call for some idiot that got hit by a cab on the corner of Buford Hwy and Lenox Rd. Got there and it was a guy I had seen on the cornet a lot begging for change at the stop light. Usual sign, "USA Vet, need help, god bless." Well, we got some info and he did have a broken leg and when we searched him we found a wallet and a set of keys. Turns out he had a nice house a few miles away and would park his car at a near by Home Depot and walk to his spot. He said he got $300 a day in change on a good day. We made sure it made the paper as it totally pissed off the vet on the platoon. Never saw him begging again.
Fashion over function? Nope. I'd prefer a (performance) car any day over something that just sits on my wrist. But Darth, to each his own of course
Going today to pay her, going to make her sign a contract saying I did pay her so I don't get screwed if she denies I paid.
In addition I would not pay her in cash, write a check. Put the reason for the payment in the memo box and write paid in full.
