    Hello,
I am doing a little research on the Koenig 512 BBi

    Some questions:
    1) I know that this kit is from the 80s and 90s but does Koenig Specials still offer this kit to the public?

    2) For some reason, why does the front grill look different from every other BBi I have seen? Is it a hole new grill or is it just painted black?

    3) Is there any Koenig 512 BBi owners on this board?

a video of it can be found here

Notice the Toe out rear wheels in video...This tire set up must have been hard on rear end

I think that video is what Enzo Ferrari despises about people who bought Ferraris. Tuxedo and poser video. The Tux and the lady was a bit cheesy. Cool car though. Early 80's...what can you say?

a scoop was put right over the gas filler. So how do you fuel it up?

Did all this body work proceed the Lambo 25th aniv Countach? One copied the other- i don't know which.

Yes, I've sent Koenig Specials an e-mail regarding this kit. I've been doing some more research all over the net and others have said that Walter (Willy's son?) Koenig can pull out all the old molds for the old school cars such as the 308,328,512, etc., and create it in FRP or CF

That is a good question, the scoop does seem to be covering the gas lid

here is a pic of a koenig 512 bb, which does not have the scoops

I can seem some similarities with the countach such as the scoops and the wing, but as for who copied who, I have no clue

This yellow one has shown up before- Canadian car i believe.
Bit of an eyesore- has had many Cavallinos pasted all over any surface available.

In the vid posted above between 5:02 - 5:04 you can see the fuel filler still positioned where it was, under the scoop (seems quite accessible).

Koenig already did the Strosek designed body in the early eighties. The 25th anniversary Countach came much later. By that time Koenig had the Testarossa.

There's that gas filler scoop again.

Far as 'who preceeded who' on the scooped look, maybe I missed something. The Countach had the 'sugar scoop' rear air intakes long before Koenig, who was in my estimation following then-current popular design. This photo is an LP400, whos show debut was I THINK in 1971. I know first production was in 1973. Anyway, not meant to derail, only answer the question.

The Koenig cars are an acquired taste I guess.

ok, i know there are some purist here; and I do personally like the true form of the boxer as well, but a Koenig kit done right to me is the icing on the cake

The yellow 512 BB guido boxer is terrible. I do not like the color yellow on boxers, and he murdered it with a bunch of Ferrari decor

i believe that this Koenig kit gained some influence from the countach, and the rear fenders from a old school 911 porsche turbo

I've never, ever seen a body kit improve the beauty of any Ferrari, although some are functional and can improve certain things like cooling and downforce. I do like some of the brutal turbo creations that have been made however.
