Anyone who needs a clutch for a 288 GTO let me know.

There are 2 cars I happen to know of replacing 25-year old items now, and the received wisdom is to use the current AP Racing item # 5255 (part number 6ABRN) as these units have a more rigid pressure plate over the original items. An 8 1/2 inch twin plate item the unit will run about two grand...

    Yes Ian:

The one in the foreground registered Go-0621 is chassis number 53759.

The one in the background registered MYK-06700 is chassis number 55163, still with its original owner family.

    The cars are in Germany...

In 1985 Michele Alboretto drove the Ferrari on top to work (GTO 56195, Monaco registered F909)

Once at work he drove the Ferrari on the bottom (Formula One 126 C4)

Its worth noting that they both had composite bodywork, longitudinally-mounted twin-turbocharged engines with BEHR intercoolers, megaphone pipes, rear-mounted gearboxes and a plethora of other similar-type components, all part of Harvey Postlethwaite's mad-scientist approach to bringing state-of-the-art F1 technology to the road.

Everyone is talking about the Monterrey event on the 15th of August.

I am sure that it is going to be a great success.

How many GTO's (rough estimate is fine) do you think are with their original owners/families? I can see the GTO as one of those cars a family just doesn't want to let go of.

I personally am aware of about a dozen, but I am sure there are more still with their original owners, perhaps 20.

Yes you are correct, I have never come across a car that elicits a 'not for sale' more often than GTOs do when I encounter them.

Look at the differences on the dashboard of prototipo 47649: starter button all the way on the left side of the steering column unlike production cars, no central lower panel for radio application and three gauges have a binnacle separate from the air-vents.

On the center console there is no lighter and no chromed "Cavallino Rampante"...
