I agree. And I noticed it's a favourite for a few of these homes!

    First of all, great thread!

Interestingly, New Jersey has quite a few mid-century modern houses. Unfortunately, we are losing them rapidly. The house next door to my parents, who live in Princeton, which was a very charming '60s modern was just torn down yesterday by Princeton University to make way for a McMansion, at least the 4th such loss in their neighborhood.

A Venturi house was lost to NJ but not destroyed. Read this: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/03/robert_venturi_designed_beach.html

On a more positive note, here are some Philly area houses that are quite nice: www.ModernHomesPhiladelphia.com

    Regards,

    Art S.

Wow, that's a serious piece of kit. Brilliant! I wonder how negotiable that $48M price is with how the market is right now...

Nice! Is that at your house or did you get a local warehouse?

I just watched the movie "Zabriskie Point", and they had such a BEAUTIFUL house there! It seems to me that they built it only for blowing it up later, but the scenes around the pool etc had to be filmed somewhere - anybody know more?

any chance you can shoot me a message? i am in the process of designing a modern home on 10 acres, 4000 square feet. the people i'm working with are incredible builders but i'm not sure we're hitting all the right points in making our home modern enough. what type of wood is that you used on the exterior? i love it and am worried that a million dollar investment won't be done exactly as i want it to.... thanks!

Thanks for sharing and keeping the thread alive. What a beautiful house, whereabouts is this property?

I'll post more pictures soon, I'm waiting on my subscription to get renewed.

I go back and forth about modern homes - sometimes I like them, sometimes I feel they're too cold and "commercial" to be a residence. But when I see some of the awesome homes in this thread I think "I want that!!"
