Wasn't this 410SA's car which later got repainted back to red? Maybe you should ask him?

Exactly right. The car was delivered from the factory in red, painted blue by its first owner and repainted red when he sold it. The only difference is that the headlights were left black when the car was repainted back to red. FWIW the second paint job was absolutely perfect, far better than the original factory paint.

I gather very few pictures exist in the public domain of this car in Azzuro California. The only other picture i know of is the one racing on the banked section of a track. My favourite F50 too, God only knows why there are no more in this colour!

not to split hairs as you owned the car, but it was painted blue by the first owner who also owned a red f-50 (very found of the azzurro color). it was transferred to another owner very shortly after that who left it blue during it's stay with him and was repainted as part of the deal when he sold it.

I've got over a dozen in my dump thread on SCN, but since that forum is building build up from nothing at the moment, most of the pics arent online yet.

I had to have seen that thing in person weekly for a long period of time, and I don't think I have single photo of it. I'll rumage through my old film shots this week and check though, and if I do I will scan in at high res.

    Don't hold your breath though...

Gosh, I fell in LOVE with that thing in that color... why oh why paint it red!? To each his own I guess... but it was beautiful.

My first F50 I had seen was in that color. It was in the showroom of what was then "Ferrari of Dallas" in Texas. I won't forget it!

I remember seeing that car quite often when it was at Ferrari of Dallas back in the day. I was absolutely in love with that car.

It sounds like I'm going out on a limb, but that car is one memory that I'll never forget from my childhood years in the mid-90s.

To be a little "MORE CORRECT"....

F-50's had, as part of their sales agreements, a provision in the transaction, that made them a little different than a normal car buy.

It was Ferrari's way of trying to prevent "Flipper's" from messing up the market, or from running up the market on a car they wanted to "control" for obvious "liability" reasons.

I don't have pictures. BUT, I was standing near this car shortly after it was repainted, at the Ferrari dealership. I was in awe of something so beautiful. I was amazed at how subtle this color was, but on such an amazing car.... I had no idea of what was to come.

The car had a transfer of ownership. I can't think of way to describe the process in an open car talk forum.

Needless to say, the repainting was something that created an issue, or at least an original "Ownership" issue...

These cars were NEVER SOLD as new, only LEASED....

I think the "flipping" was what Ferrari wanted the global market to think. However I believe that this was more to prevent the "lemon law" buyback that hurt so many Ferrari dealerships who sold F40's when the market collapsed in 1990.

Ferrari dealers who marked up U.S. spec F40 prices over a million dollars were required to buy back the same cars when the market tanked if there were mechanical flaws that fell under the buy back laws (hand brake cables were one of them) I'm going off of memory from 20 years ago, but this was documented.

    IMHO
