Not sure its going to be a banner year for anyone in the west. Bama seems to have the easiest road to winning the division though.

 

Since this thread only has about 5 posts in it, I think the moderators should go ahead and rename it "SEC Football 2009." Get it changed out sooner before everyone starts yelling at the SEC fans about the content of the thread. Go Gators!

 

As always, I will be supporting the mighty University of North Texas Mean Green.

It's got to be better this year, after all the head coach Todd Dodge just recruited his son for quarterback. No problems there, right? After all, the coach has gone 3-21 since he was hired.

The first year, he was "working with the old coach's team"
The second year, he was "recruiting hard for the future"
This is year 3. Dude better step up. Hard to blame the QB now when he shares a dinner table.

My bet -- we'll be lucky to win 2 this season. Our big smackdown this year is against 'Bama. They'll hang 50+ on us

Oddly enough, the guy who they dumped to fit Dodge in won 3 in his final year.

 

I think my Scarlet Knights have a very good chance to win the Big East and get to a BCS bowl. We pulled in our best recruiting class and kept a lot of starters from last year and we have all our tough games at home this year, GO RUTGERS!

 

Bama lost the SEC Championship in a 4-qtr war with the eventual national champions, hardly a choke.

Now the Sugar Bowl..........THAT was a choke.

But I don't have time to regurgitate all the times LSU choked last year. But at least they won the Chik-Fil-A Bowl!

HAHA, just messin' Frank, how are things down on the Bayou? I see you expect the Tigers to do much better this year after they played like the old Tigers last year.

I think you know who I think will win the SEC West, but if not the Tide, it could be Ole Miss or LSU. Should be a really interesting race to play Florida in Atlanta! The West will be FAR more competitive than the East.

You got any games penciled in to attend? I'll be at the Spring Game(A-Day, April 18th -- you don't have to go, you can watch it live on ESPN!), Virginia Tech to start the season off in the Georgia Dome, Tennessee in October, LSU in November, and I'd love to get to the Grove for the Ole Miss game.

 

The kicker with North Texas is that Dodge is campaigning for a new stadium and new athletic facilities and he's lost quite a few starters with his new policies. But hey if they let the guy stick around he may be able to pull out a couple wins in a year or two.

As for the SEC I can see the Gators dropping one and still winning the conference.

Hopefully in 09' Texas will get some vindication after getting screwed last year. Unfortunately our OOC schedule is complete crap so even with an undefeated season we could still get the shaft in the end depending on how many other undefeated teams there are.

 

If the Gators don't at least win the SEC this will be their most disappointing season in recent memory.
It is very admirable for Tebow to stay and help his team, I just hope he does not get hurt.
He is one of the most entertaining QB's to watch.
I especially like watching his jump pass.
We get to play Oklahoma in the second game of the season, after opening with FSU at Doak. This should be fun!

uh-oh, watch out boys. word is that jevon snead has put on about 20-30lbs of upper body strength in the off season. unfortunately we lost micheal oher to help protect him.
should be an intersting secw this year.

 

be sure to keep that thing ready after yall get your asses whipped for two years in a row, i'm sure there will be plenty of lsu faithful that will feel like dying!

 

Either way, you're BOTH losing to BAMA again this year! LOL but seriously, those two games are the big ones on all three of our schedules. If anyone comes out with two wins through there, they'll most likely be the SECW champ.

Anyone else go to their team's spring game? I went to Tuscaloosa last weekend, along with 84,050 of my closest friends Had a great time and got some great shots from the sidelines.

Ouch Russ! I remember LOTS of BAMA students, girls especially, hailing from Texas while I was at UA.

Yes indeed, there are some real sweethearts around here, BUT... there is somethng about those south Alabama girls, especially from around Foley...

And to give everyone a chuckle before the season starts, here's ( a lot younger) me in 1979 as Drum Major directing the Alabama band. I wish I still had half that hair!

Yes - graduated in 80.
Best game ever for me: Alabama - Penn State Sugar Bowl. Words cannot describe the emotion to be there....
...and to this day I admire Penn State as well.
