    $150 for membership rewards for 2 years versus $1200 retail. I came out ahead.

    I remember seeing it in the Amex catalog that was mailed to me and I just laughed. There cannot be too many people that average $20K/day in spending that don't already have an exotic or five.

    Generally,

    AmEx points redeemed for international flights...5% benefit

    AmEx points redeemed for everything else...1% benefit
