    'Red Bull pairing is second only to Ferrari's'
    Thursday 23rd April 2009 - PlanetF1.com

    Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz reckons that in Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber he has the best line-up on the grid barring Ferrari's.

    Teaming up at Red Bull Racing at the start of this year's Championship, Vettel and Webber handed the team their first-ever 1-2 finish in China last Sunday when they dominated the grand prix.

    It was an impressive showing and one that pleased Mateschitz, who is singing the praises of his drivers.

    "With Vettel and Webber, we have absolutely the strongest driver pairing in the field, besides Ferrari," he told Germany's Bild.

    Vettel's victory, his second since entering F1, has garnered the attention of many in the sport, with rumours suggesting that Ferrari could be in his future. Mateschitz, though, has made it clear that his driver is not for sale.

    "At the moment Vettel is indispensible," he added.

    I agree Vettel and Webber are a good pairing, talented youth and experience...don't agree with the rest.

    Of course this guy Mateschitz knows nothing, all of us on FChat are closer to the sport than he is. ;}

    Actually, I think he is trying to prevent the loss of Vettel as a future pairing with Massa. But then another silly rumor is that Massa has been approached by both Brawn and Matechitz. No link, nada, just one of those unsupported comments similar to Bernie's reasons for divorce, and Schumacher funding Brawn.

    As a significant team owner, his comments could possibly imply both the Ferrari drivers would be welcomed at other teams. He only owns 2 teams though, not sure if thats a big deal :)

    Steve, i've never been a Webber fan, and he always tends to screw things up. Lets hope he proves me wrong this year.

    mostly not through his own fault though. There's a reason why he is branded 'the unluckiest man in F1'.

    History has shown us that unlucky people tend not to go far in F1. Nice enough bloke, but sorry Maaak.
