    Hi Joe,

I belief that car was in Holland for many years, was blue, sold to Portugal, resprayed red.
Too bad we lost that one.

    Best regards,

This car is in fact 5030 from France.

The car you are thinking of is 4946, which started life in the USA as red, then painted blue in the USA, then to the Netherlands, and then to Portugal and red again. I have all the dates somewhere...

Half a point to Joe in spotting the North Yorkshire town of Northallerton; not picked for it's beauty or rich Saxon heritage but it's location being equidistant from the usual homes of these iconic bulls.

The countach can often be seen in the Yorkshire motor museum in Batley, Yorkshire.

    http://travel.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Yorkshire_Motor_Museum_Batley__6235017

But please check before making a specific pilgrimage as the owner might just have taken her out 'round the parish & in that case will probably be found outside the butchers in Northallerton.

The miura can always be seen parked in my garage - visits by appointment & please remember to bring a suitcase full of cash.

Aye - even folk ower in Lancashire 'av bin talking about it!

It was an excellent mornings adventure and it's worth mentioning that even in these straightened times passing 'Allertonites showed an informed interest and palpable affection for these cars that I'm sure many supercar owners never see.

A wide range of interested locals of all ages were given the tour - some mothers were phoning home for younger fans to rush to the High Street for a rare photo opportunity and much fun was had by all.

80% / 20% in favour of the fairer sex too which was nice to see!

It's a real experience each time you drive it - that comment that I've read so often about miura coming alive those first few miles really is true and with the miura more so than any other car I've owned or even driven.

After 10 miles the car seems much more fluid, more so after 20 - out on the moors where I live the car just feels like it is really in it's element.

Mile 50 is so much more fun than mile 5.

Driving 350 miles home initially with the car was a mixture of the unknown, excitement and apprehension - very thrilling but when you don't know a car well you take the time to learn it's characteristics - first journey barely saw 3,000 revs.

Now I feel that I know the car a little better I am pushing MY envelope a little more - saw 130mph (not saying where, Officer) and the car seemed to be really fizzing - both owner and machine well "on cam" if you know what I mean.

No point going crazy as I like to bed in any new engine properly - albeit with visits to the higher rev bands.

Besides Joe as you know rebuilding your first Lamborghini engine is a journey of joy, despair, ruin & ecstasy - I'm not quite insane enough yet to start my second.

Parting with the car WILL be a wrench and much more of one than I ever expected - still I'm in no hurry to sell and my default position is enjoying more of the same - folks write fulsome prose about driving these beasts - being able to drive such an icon whenever I choose is a delight - a couple of hours on the Yorkshire moors with #3171 and some good company is well about a good as it ever gets.

Most fun I have ever had with my trousers on as a well-known mouthy and rotund British motoring journalist might say.

    And on that bombshell.........

Did I mention it's for sale & one of the best value miura in Europe?

    Bax.

Finally got around to reading my copy of Octane (April 2009) entitled "Lamborghini Miura Spider"

For those who have taken the trouble to read this: how many erroneous statements can you spot? (!)
