Always sad to see pictures like these, perhaps a reminder of our own mortality.

wasn't the LP crash from a few weeks back with a teenage driver?

adolescence+exotics-proper high speed driver's ed=disaster. sad to see people learning the hard way.

No problem until something like this happens... :(

Driving at such speeds in a city is plain stupid and irresponsible IMO.

The parents of these Russian kids should know their children better before handing them the keys to such cars. This is all very sad.

Probably texting(not paying attention to the road at any rate) and rear ended the SUV. All the best to the one badly injured.

Texting at 90mph? Looks like he was just going too fast for the situation.

A 19 year old has no business driving such a car.
If I had a F430 at 19 Im sure I would do the same thing.

I think it depends on the education (also in terms of driving courses), maturity and responsibility of the particular kid.

In 90% or more of cases, I think that what you say may be true.

The kid's parents should have had the sensibility to realize such things.

In Moscow normal to have such cars in 19-21 yr without any parents. One 19yr neighbour buy 2x AMG S65, white and black (~ 350-400k$ each in Russia). He has very interesting and new for Russia financial business past 2 years.

When I was 17 I had a 69 GTO that was much modified. I use to street race it all the time. I was just lucky. I topped it out all the time.

I used to drive my 93 RX7 like a madman. One of my favorite things to do was to come back home late nights--usually weeknights--from a bar in Baltimore, and top out the car at close to 160mph on I-95. A couple of times I caught glimpeses of blue lights in my rear view mirror, but was able to pull off the exit close to my house and make it home without them even getting within 1/2 mile of me. It was scary, and such an adrenaline rush. But even scarier was when super bikes would make a race out of it and pass me when I was doing 150+. I was worried more about them than myself.

And then one Halloween night, I did the same thing and saw the blue lights again. But for some reason, the car wouldn't go past 140 (later on I discovered what poor shape my tires were in). Well, I got pulled over, and got a whole stack of tickets. After a couple of hours in a cell, my roommate came and bailed me out. They gave me the breathalizer, but I blew within the limit.

After a couple of court appearances, the only charge the jury (we asked for a jury trial--big mistake!) found me guilty of was evading and eluding, which is still pretty serious.

Later on in life, I decided not to behave like that. It wasn't because of fear for my own life, but for the safety of others on the road. I was very lucky that nobody ever got hurt because of my reckless driving.

Now I drive like grandpa :)

BTW, the speeds these Russian kids were going were closer to 125mph. (I read in a more recent article) And the weird damage that you see on the 430 is from rescue crews cutting them out of the vehicle. I wish there were some photos of the actual damage before the cut-out process. The 430 wouldn't have looked as bad as these pics show.

And, the kids are lucky that neither one of them was seriously hurt, and especially that nobody innocent got hurt. Sometimes the best lessons are the hardest ones learned. Let's hope they learned.

Look how well the SUV type vehicle held up and how shredded the 430 is. It really reminds you that we're driving around in some lightweight cars and should always be careful.
