Richard- If that happens to you again, as it did to me in my 246 GT, just jam the throttle open to 2000-2500 rpm and you can drive it home that way, too. Luckily in Clovis, NM in 1976, nobody had a clue what it was anyway. Just orange and small.

Drove through Starbucks drive-thru in the stradale, ordered a cappuccino, got to the window and realized I left my wallet at home. The cashier gal yelled HE'S GOT NO MONEY! All I could hear was laughter inside. doh!

When I had my 308, I guess I was a week into having her, I pull into a Burger King
to go inside . Bunch of kids oohing and ahhing as I come into the lot. I back into a space,
but since I not yet used to how low the car is,I go over the speed bump and get stuck.
A few laughs later,by the kids, they had to lift the back end up while I drove forward.
I bought the five kids lunch and never went back to that BK for a while.

My car alarm system got faulty just after I got out of work several months back. And shutting down and restarting the car several times over didn't solve the problem either. So I said the hell with it and drove all the way to the dealership with the car alarm continuously sirening off through highways and several business districts!

I've taken the 355 to the scrap metal recycling yard. Got funny looks, and I guess they wondered where I put the trash bags full of crushed cans. Just wanted to use the scale.

    Two Items.

Bad alternator in Mondial T about three/four years back....didn't know until too late as intermittent [or is that alternating-alternator :D ]. Used up all my juice in middle of intersection and there I am, nice cabriolet, nice sun and honking horns ... push to side and stayed till towed.

lastly: The 348/Mondial T as some others, had a bad start problem after a long/hot run. IF you parked and tried to re-start you would get silence. Needed IIRC to have the starter solenoid cool down, which was a problem. FofSF's fix was to install a booster from the key switch to the starter and solved for $80.

BUT, would be many a time, until then, to just sit in the parking lot, or such, 'pretending' to be on cell phone or reading something waiting for the cooldown..... I can now pretend to be actually doing something while actually not having any props, acquired skill, kind of like a govt. worker at a desk.

I forgot the f430 has a push to start button. I was trying to start it with the key for about ten minutes.

These don't seem "ghetto", just embarrassing. I've run out of gas in a hospital parking garage as I was pulling out of my parking space. Blocked traffic and two guys had to help me push it back in the parking spot. That was embarrassing, but I wouldn't say ghetto.

Now, pulling into a strip club in the 328 in nowhere Alabama, where the dancers were either too fat, meth skinny, old enough to strip with they're grand daughters and just plain skanky...that was ghetto. Plus, hitting the Taco Bell at 3:00 smelling of skanky stripper was a bonus.

I pulled over to give girl "thumb up" hitchhiker a ride.....

It was a pre-op transvestite, after being propositioned for a "one of a kind experience", I pulled back over, handed 'it' an abandoned pack of smokes from the passenger door pocket, and returned to my travels........

While not "in 'da ghetto" come to think of it it WAS right on the freeway feeder in front of one of those 24 hour sex video rental places.......

Amazing! The EXACT same thing happened to me!

A male transvestite fooled me to the point that things were getting pretty hot when I discovered "she" was carring some extra tackle.

I told "her" to get the hell out and she pulled a pistol and said "We're finishing" and held it to my head.

You can imagine what happened next!

Does picking up a couple of five gallon cans of roofing tar count?

Went to Home Depot, bought two cans, loaded them into the trunk (yes, they fit) gor a couple of odd looks from the folks in the parking lot, and drove home to effect some repairs on the garage roof, which is flat.

Not exactly ghetto, but certainly surprised the hell out of the folks at Home Depot.

My most ghetto move however, was selling Uro my Dino 246GT after convincing him it really was a Ferrari. Man, did I take him for a ride...

    you got laid?

    --

Sneaking one in here (not ferrari). Friend of mine picked up his 'new' car and drove it home during the evening. it started to get dark so he put the headlights on. one wasn't working. after a while a torrential downpour happened upon him so he turned the wipers on. Except the rubbers weren't even there! So he stops the car, takes of his socks and puts them on the wipers with some tape (seriously). He gets back in the car and then it won't start. Turned out he had to use a screwdriver on the battery to get it going again. about 5 minutes later, his friend who's driving behind him starts flashing his headlights....turns out my friends car is on fire!

turned out to be some plastic in the engine bay melting on the exhaust, brilliant.

My ghetto moment was going to the gas station near my house, my 328 running on fumes,
and I FORGOT MY WALLET. So I had to pay inside with a one dollar bill and a handful of
quarters, nickles and dimes so I had enough gas to run back home and get my wallet!.
    Definitely got some funny looks.

I've also gone to garage sales (jumble sales for the UK crowd) - that certainly draws looks.
As well as the thrift store with my daughter who loves to buy kooky outfits - it's her form
of conservation - reusing old clothes. Always gets funny looks from people.
