I have always been smitten by this car, and info is hard to come by. There is a thread in existence regarding #0384, but in this thread, info is wanted on ANY of them!

To start, how many actually exist? I've read that at least 2 of them have been hopelessly wrecked in the early days, and also that one of them is missing.

I've read that it achieved 181 mph, is this true?

And you all know how much I love ads/selling prices, so post 'em if you got 'em! (esp. that ad from R&T 8/69)

Here is an ad from HMN, Aug. 1983. No price, of course (though probably around $115,000)

interesting advertisement - but I think it is incorrect. Conventional wisdom has the LeMans winner in 54 as 0396 and not 0398. 0396 went on to the Carrera Panamericana where driver Jack McAfee crashed, killing passenger Ford Robinson, and the wreck was sent back to the factory. Its steering box went on a shelf and was subsequently installed in Series II 500 Mondial 0556(0446)MD where it is today.

You can really see where the ACE and Bristol and Cobra got their shapes from. I had the pleasure of seeing one recently. A remarkable automobile indeed!

To think those race car drivers of old drove that bad boy with such reckless abandon with marginal brakes and wearing a leather helmet! Talk about big cahones!

    regards

In an interview some years ago former Pininfarina designer Leonardo Fioravanti stated that this 375 Plus was his favourite design.
    Kind regards.

Thanks for your help everyone, this truly is a beautiful car, nothing even came close when it was unveiled! This may be controversial (haha) but I'd pick this car over a GTO any day, it is my absolute favorite Ferrari. Didn't Carroll Shelby race a 375 Plus at one point, or am I thinking of another car? I know he dabbled with Ferraris quite a bit in the 50s.

Just for ha-has, I did some research on past transactions, and here are some prices (though most are unconfirmed, but surely accurate):

    0392AM sold for about $4000 in 1965.
0396AM went to France for circa $80000 in 1981.
    0478AM sold from Harrah's collection for $125,000 on 9/30/1984.
0488AM offered in R&T 8/69 for $12,000 (If anyone has this ad, let me know!).

Those are the only transactions I know of. Surely a car with such credentials would bring $8MM today, especially if 375MMs bring $5MM.

Thanks for this transaction data, Tom S.
Stupefying. But, I guess, if both parties are happy...
