So with this economic mess and car haters in power and now I hear that the Pres of MADD will become Director of NHTSA and we'll probably go back to the 55 mph speed limit

I am thinking of taking some $ out of the USA

I really want a Z06 Vette in Argentina, biggest issue is talking myself into paying the substantial tax hit that makes it about 40% more expensive than the same car here

I suppose the stupider things get here the easier it will be to take the plunge

For those of you who have cars overseas what was the trigger that made it ok for you to splurge the $ and take the tax hit ?

Buy the car here and drive it to Argentina.

Argentina isn't really overseas, you can drive there.

First, if it is ONLY 40% that is nothing. Don't try Denmark (IIRC) at 180%

Second, I live under a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) so most of the local tax laws in Germany do not apply to me (but US ones do).

Third, you might PM mseals, here. I think he is a contractor and MAY or MAY NOT fall under a SOFA in Kuwait and be subject to BOTH local and US tax law. He might be able to provide insight I cannot.

Fourth, Good Luck William, whichever track you decide to take.
