Based on most of the comments I read about Ferrari (and McLaren, for that matter), the dastardly duo have been successful in their quest to portray Ferrari as "spoiled" and "entitled". I said last week that there is more to what we're seeing on the grid than a bunch of complacent, lazy Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and BMW engineers being outworked by Williams, Red Bull and Toyota (I won't include Brawn because Ross' track record proves he can out-think the rest) to create a better car. I can't put my finger on it, but I've never seen a grid reflecting 3 different interpretations of car construction rules like we clearly have this year. Something is just odd about it, especially given the drive for 'spec series'-like control this season and beyond. Since all of that talk a few years ago about a breakaway series (led by Ferrari and Mac), the rules & regulations have gotten stranger and stranger. Could this simply be Bernie and Max doing what they have to do to wrest control back from the top 2 teams? (Renault and BMW are just 'throw ins' because they have been on the heels of Ferrari/McLaren the past few seasons)
Ferrari didn't lead the potential breakaway, they prevented it. In return they became the FIA's favourites and got some preferential treatment for their efforts.
+1 Mclaren led the breakaway series effort Ferrari was the first team to recommit to F1 and in fact garnered some favoritism from the FIA (but not to the degree everyone thinks IMO)
ricksb is right on. I started a thread a few weeks ago asking if it is a coincidence or conspiracy with what is going on in F1 this season, and no one really agreed with the coincidence aspect of my question....but i agree with ricksb, this has been rigged to allow the underling teams the chance to dominate and punish the other top teams,,,,
