Surely not. How far will fu'd politics play out? http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/03/montezemolos-revenge-ferrari-chief-to-start-le-mans/
I think this article has put two and two together and got five. Having said with not many people likely to bet against Audi equalling Ferraris 9 outright wins at Le Mans this year (second only to Porsche with 16), personally I would like to see a new Ferrari LMP car with a V12 wailing down the Mulsanne.
I think he's bluffing. Although if they leave i hope they'll return after bernie and porno MAXXX have left.
Ferrari leaving F1 would be as heartbreaking as Senna's death, F1 would never be the same. I'm calling bs on Luca's comment's because he surely knows how important Ferrari's participation in F1 is to the company's standing and sales. Luca's political agenda of late is getting very annoying so why doesn't he just run for an office and let somebody else take control?
If Ferrari is no longer in F-1 it's not because they left Formula one... it's because Formula one left them.
It wouldn't be a season of F1 if Ferrari didn't make some half-assed threat to leave the sport. move along, nothing to see here.
Ferrari said they would leave if the FIA brought in the standardised Cosworth engines..... That didn't happen, Ferrari are still here and probably will be for many years to come.
I hope it's the end! F1 is getting out of hand anymore. I would love to see them back in the prototype class in the lemans racing again with an updated 333sp car that is a my dream.
Note: The Concorde Agreement will or should still apply till 2012. This is going to get worse before it gets better.. Max needs removing quick, I knew the Mclaren thing was a smoke screen, the man is a twisted dictator, It needs someone to think one step ahead all the time, I have had my fill of this crap. Luca is a hypocrite, but at least he is trying to, or appearing to do the right thing IMO. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
luca has the first say in this letter looking at the full letter the F.I.A have broken a contract of aggrement under E.U and italian & french laws so ferrari have a case.
Correct, however Max will argue radical measures are needed now otherwise other teams will drop out. IMO The budget cap is set to low, it could be brought in stepped stages, starting at say between 70- 60 mil, however that is my view. I also believe PornoMax is well over due his sell by date, by about ten years.
i think we can find the funding to be champs of two fronts(F1 and LeMans).I have had that 2010 "333sp" on my mind for a hot minute.
Formula One has been on a steady road to ruin. If Ferrari left F1, F1 will become much less relevant, and if it fizzles to nothing I won't mind. Wherever Ferrari goes is where all those tens of thousands of fans waving red/yellow/checker flags will go, as well as all of Ferrari's marketing propaganda. Public momentum will follow. Ferrari is to world-level motorsport what Superman is to comic book heroes, or what Hulk Hogan was to WWF back in the 80s.
Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One commercial rights-holder, has hinted that the budget cap for Formula One teams next season, which was set at £40 million by the FIA last week, is likely to be raised in exchange for a championship run under a single set of technical rules. Max Mosley, the president of the FIA, told the teams last week that if they do not accept a voluntary cap, they will have to run cars that are more restricted in performance than those under the cap. It is becoming clear that the concept of a restricted budget is not a problem for the teams, but a so-called two-tier championship is something they all want to avoid. It would appear that everyone is in favour of the cap, including Ferrari, if we can get them to agree, which we can, Ecclestone told The Times this weekend. However, there is concern over the amount that is referred to in the cap for some of the teams and also the two-tier system. So these are probably not monumental things to sort out. One possibility is that, over the next month or so, Ecclestone will intercede between Mosley and the teams and try to get the FIA president to accept a significant increase in the cap, to something like £60 million or more for next year. The headline figure would then fall from there on a so-called glide path, which would bring it back to about £40 million by 2012. Ecclestone, in turn, is smoothing troubled waters in Mosleys wake. The trouble with Max is hes not capable, like in the past, of wrapping things up nicely with a pink ribbon and things. He wants to put it in an old cardboard box and tie it with string, Ecclestone said. The billionaire impresario said that he would not allow Mosley to destroy Di Montezemolo, as some at Ferrari believe he is intent on doing. I wont let it happen, he said. The trouble with Luca, he said of the flamboyant Ferrari president, who has engaged in a war of words with Mosley in correspondence that was subsequently leaked to the press, is that you shouldnt let Max ever be in a position where he can start a debate or an argument. Hes reasonably clever and you wont win. Even if you do win, its like you being in the audience and me being there with the microphone. You say something smart and I dont give you the microphone its as easy as that. Source http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article6216238.ece
So it seems Bernie will not allow PornoMax to replace Ron Dennis with Luca, on another vendetta. I'am sure Luca is rubbing his hands right now.
It's what I was suggesting with this uneven championship season...that there are things going on behind the scenes that we are not privvy to. Bernie's comments on PM seem most damning in this sense...that basically PMax will find ways to embarrass/destroy people who disagree with him. It's just ironic that both Ferrari and McLaren have been getting bashed in the media and on the track this year (as previously indicated, Renault and BMW's only guilt is being close competitors to those two). I do think that PMax has a lot to do with the 'clueless' strategy of last year's top 4 teams on this years grid (thus far).
What's going on with F1 viewership as a result of all the side antics? If people were to quit watching then I think that the actors would smarten up.
The problem with that is that the ELMS, the ALMS, and even LeMans is ultimately controlled by the FIA.
Really? Tell that to the marketing department in Maranello. How many post do you read say in the Lambo section were Ferrari owners will tout the "Heritage" of their brand over the Lambos? Well go ahead and throw out 60 years of it and Ferrari will be back on the same page as Lambo racing in LeMans GT until they can get a proper prototype up and going. Which will be at least a year or two. All of those Ferrari shops around the world in malls with the F1 cars? Do you really think everyone will be running to buy caps and shirts with the LeMans cars as they did with the F1 cars? Nothing but past glory.... Really? This season so far has been "one of the best" according to many of the Tiffosi here on this board and Ferrari are nowhere in the hunt. I haven't seen any ratings numbers but given the verboseness of Max I'd be willing to be that they're up.
well as for the above comments.Ferrari not bieng there WOULD be a loss.WHY?! Because there are still die-hard tifosi like myself who still believe a 2009 resurgence is very possible with this "F60B".As for 2010 I believe the "F61",which might be AWD(with front and back KERS),might dominate given our hint of already be working on 2010.Le Mans?A 333sp successor that is a pure built FERARRI(333sp had dallara chassis for series1 and michelotto for series2),and a world beater.I need to do my research on the regs as F1 is my life...lol..I personally think we can do it on both fronts.POrsche should make a return to F1,I would say Audi too but the VW corp as a whole might not see sense especially with Porsches huge stake there.
