    Cool! I remember when a buddy flew me out to Catalina on a small plane. You could look down and see giant Mantas near a lot of the boats, with a span much larger than the beams. Awesome to see.

    Those look a lot like cow-nosed rays, had some in a "touch pool" at the aquarium where I worked. They were some of the friendliest little critters, really enjoyed attention from humans. We kept their barbs trimmed just to be sure nobody got hurt. I've seen large mantas when I've been in a small boat. Pretty awesome sight but they don't seem too interested in us.

    amazing photos! Ive got footage of me chasing and touching some schools of them here in aust in about 3-4ft of water off brisbane. similar looking ray, but more of a grey... fascinating to see so many together at once...

    Eagle rays not the same kind that Irwin was playing with. They are shy of man when I have been around them. I must admit not that many. I have seen 3 at a time but nothing like that.
