Sounds like a great time! Wish I would have gone. Who's yellow 365 GT 2+2 is pictured? Im pretty sure I saw that exact car at the Meadow Brook Concour's last year in the spectator parking. It is gorgeous! This was the best shot I could get, was in a hurry.

You are correct, Chris, it is the same car that you saw at the Meadowbrook lot last year.

I have owned the car for about 4 years and 9,500 wonderful miles of driving. When the model was new, the great writer Karl Ludvigsen called it "The Magnificent GT" in his road test report in Sports Car Graphic --- and I think that particular road test made it the model I always wanted to own. I think the description still fits, The Magnificent GT. The color is original, per the Heritage Certificate (repainted by the previous owner in CA).

To me, it is a great blend of the classic and the modern. It looks like a stretched 500 Superfast with many of the very best Pininfarina styling cues, but is modern enough to have (all standard equipment) A/C, PS, PB, PW, leveling suspension, all discs, right and left side heaters, flow through ventilation, and other features of a great GT you can really drive somewhere. The back seat is usable for reasonable distances and the trunk is 12.5 cubic feet (along with a full spare and 25 gallons of fuel). The car took a gold in the 2+2 class at the 2007 FCA Annual Meet in Corning, NY (with some lucky judging) and we drove it over 1,700 miles that week to the meet plus a family visit.

It is quick but not violent off the line (0-60 about 7.5 sec.) because it is too heavy, but it is an express train up high. I have seen 130 and it is still pulling hard (152 top by the original road tests). It doesn't feel much different at 120 than it does at 80 - solid and confident at any realistic cruising speed. Ferrari made 801 of these from 1967 to 1971, including 6 automatic transmission models that foretold of the coming 400/412 models. Mine is one of three known by the Ferrari Market Letter to have a sunroof (power, Webasto), though I cannot prove whether it is original or not, but it works great. The aerodynamics are pretty amazing for a 1967 design. You can open the windows at 80 mph without interior buffeting - ditto the sunroof, so the airflow is pretty smooth across the classic body.

My wife did a presentation for an Italian language class at the U of M about the 2+2 Ferraris of the 1960s. They were made in slightly greater numbers than the "more famous" two seaters like the Lusso, the SWB Berlinetta, and others. Today, these models including the 250 GTE, the 330 America, the 330 GT 2+2, and my model are coming into their own as true collectable Ferraris. Plus, they are really practical to drive. You give up a bit on the 0-60 times, but gain a lot in usability. And, in Giallo Fly, it does get noticed.

    Regards,

    Jim Walker

    Jim ,

Those cars were ,and continue to be, cool Ferraris . Classical Pininfarina design . Quintessential 60's . 12 cyl. up front where God intended them to be ! I believe R & T called them the " Queen Mother of Ferraris" . The Borranis are period perfect . Many years ago when i was looking for my first Ferrari i looked at a white one here in Michigan . It was the first Ferrari i had the opportunity to drive . What a memorable experience that was . Needless to say , i was hooked for life . Congratulations on owning a very cool car . And the yellow color.....................what can i say :)

    Jim and Moly,

Great to see you and your beautiful Giallo Fly 365 GT 2+2, on tour. She looks really sharp! If you haven't seen her live, she is a stunner! Put her on the background of my computer screen.

Glad you are in good health and hope you may make it up by Alma, again this season, to visit me and my Nero Monoposto. :D

    Ciao...Paolo
